He said to David,“ Why are you coming at me with sticks? Do you think I’m only a dog?” The Philistine cursed David in the name of his gods.

非利士人对大卫说：“你拿杖到我这里来，我岂是狗呢？”非利士人就指着自己的神咒诅大卫。

非利士人对大卫说：“你拿着杖到我这里来，我岂是狗吗？”非利士人就指着自己的神明诅咒大卫。

非利士人对大卫说：“你拿着杖到我这里来，我岂是狗吗？”非利士人就指着自己的神明诅咒大卫。

他对大卫说：“你拿着棍子来战我，难道我是一条狗吗？”他就凭自己的神明咒诅大卫，

那非利士人对大卫说：“难道我是一条狗吗？你竟拿杖来攻击我。”于是指着自己的神咒诅大卫。

那非利士人对大卫说：“我是一条狗吗？你竟然拿木杖来对付我！”于是那非利士人指着自己的神诅咒大卫。

非利士人對大衛說：「你拿杖到我這裏來，我豈是狗呢？」非利士人就指着自己的神咒詛大衛。

那非利士人對大衛說：「我是一條狗嗎？你竟然拿木杖來對付我！」於是那非利士人指著自己的神詛咒大衛。

謂之曰、爾執杖迎我、我豈犬乎、遂指其神而詛之、

謂大闢曰、汝執杖來迎、以我為犬乎。遂指厥上帝、而咒詛大闢。

非利士人謂大衛曰、爾執杖來迎我、我豈犬乎、非利士人遂指其國之神、咒詛大衛、

He said to David,“ Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

And the Philistine said to David,“ Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

“ Am I a dog,” he roared at David,“ that you come at me with a stick?” And he cursed David by the names of his gods.

He said to David,“ Am I a dog that you come against me with sticks?” Then he cursed David by his gods.

So the Philistine said to David,“ Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

He said to David,“ Am I a dog that you come against me with sticks?” Then he cursed David by his gods.

“ King Saul, who are you trying to catch? Who do you think you are chasing? I’m nothing but a dead dog or a flea!

Abner was very angry because of what Ish- Bosheth said. So Abner answered,“ Do you think I’m only a dog’s head? Am I on Judah’s side? Mephibosheth bowed down to David. He said,“ Who am I? Why should you pay attention to me? I’m nothing but a dead dog.”

Then Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, spoke to the king. He said,“ King David, why should we let this dead dog curse you? Let me go over there. I’ll cut off his head.”

A curse given for no reason is like a wandering bird or a flying sparrow. It doesn’t go anywhere.

He said,‘ A nation has come out of Egypt. They are covering the whole surface of the land. So come and put a curse on them for me. Maybe I’ll be able to fight them. Maybe I’ll be able to drive them away.’ ”But God said to Balaam,“ Do not go with them. You must not put a curse on those people. I have blessed them.”

So come and put a curse on these people. They are too powerful for me. Maybe I’ll be able to win the battle over them. Maybe I’ll be able to drive them out of the land. I know that whoever you bless is blessed. And I know that whoever you cursed is cursed.”

May nations serve you. May they bow down to you. Rule over your brothers. May the sons of your mother bow down to you. May those who curse you be cursed. And may those who bless you be blessed.”

The people of Shechem went out into the fields. They gathered the grapes. They pressed the juice out of them by stomping on them. Then they held a feast in the temple of their god. While they were eating and drinking, they cursed Abimelek.
