A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical.No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.

Do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the Lord when he says,‘ The Lord will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’

Say to them,‘ Are you more favored than others? Go down and be laid among the uncircumcised.’

Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.”

Does the ax raise itself above the person who swings it, or the saw boast against the one who uses it? As if a rod were to wield the person who lifts it up, or a club brandish the one who is not wood!
