Beware lest Hezekiah mislead you by saying,“ The Lord will deliver us.” Has any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

Do not let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord by saying,“ The Lord will surely deliver us. This city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”

‘ Whom do you surpass in beauty? Go down and be laid to rest with the uncircumcised.’

So in the present case I tell you, keep away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or this undertaking is of man, it will fail;but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!” So they took his advice,

And the people were shouting,“ The voice of a god, and not of a man!”Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last.

And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him,“ Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”And he said,“ Who are you, Lord?” And he said,“ I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

Shall the axe boast over him who hews with it, or the saw magnify itself against him who wields it? As if a rod should wield him who lifts it, or as if a staff should lift him who is not wood!

About that time Herod the king laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church.He killed James the brother of John with the sword,

“‘ I know your sitting down and your going out and coming in, and your raging against me.Because you have raged against me and your complacency has come to my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth, and I will turn you back on the way by which you came.’
