He took 200 men from Jerusalem with him as guests, but they knew nothing of his intentions.

So Jesse sent for him. He was dark and handsome, with beautiful eyes. And the Lord said,“ This is the one; anoint him.”So as David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask of olive oil he had brought and anointed David with the oil. And the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David from that day on. Then Samuel returned to Ramah.

“ You are about to enter the land the Lord your God is giving you. When you take it over and settle there, you may think,‘ We should select a king to rule over us like the other nations around us.’If this happens, be sure to select as king the man the Lord your God chooses. You must appoint a fellow Israelite; he may not be a foreigner.

“ Yes,” they replied.“ Stay right on this road. He is at the town gates. He has just arrived to take part in a public sacrifice up at the place of worship.Hurry and catch him before he goes up there to eat. The guests won’t begin eating until he arrives to bless the food.”

Jesus also told them other parables. He said,“ The Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a king who prepared a great wedding feast for his son.When the banquet was ready, he sent his servants to notify those who were invited. But they all refused to come!“ So he sent other servants to tell them,‘ The feast has been prepared. The bulls and fattened cattle have been killed, and everything is ready. Come to the banquet!’
