So he, trembling and astonished, said,“ Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him,“ Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

And with Absalom went two hundred men invited from Jerusalem, and they went along innocently and did not know anything.

So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the Lord said,“ Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!”Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

“ When you come to the land which the Lord your God is giving you, and possess it and dwell in it, and say,‘ I will set a king over me like all the nations that are around me,’you shall surely set a king over you whom the Lord your God chooses; one from among your brethren you shall set as king over you; you may not set a foreigner over you, who is not your brother.

And they answered them and said,“ Yes, there he is, just ahead of you. Hurry now; for today he came to this city, because there is a sacrifice of the people today on the high place.As soon as you come into the city, you will surely find him before he goes up to the high place to eat. For the people will not eat until he comes, because he must bless the sacrifice; afterward those who are invited will eat. Now therefore, go up, for about this time you will find him.”

And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said:“ The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son,and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come.Again, he sent out other servants, saying,‘ Tell those who are invited,“ See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.”’
