『明天大約這時候、我要打發一個人從便雅憫地來見你，你要膏立他為人君來管理我人民以色列；他必拯救我人民脫離非利士人的手，因為我人民的困苦我已經看見了；他們的哀叫已經上達於我了。』

你要對他說話，將話語傳給他：我一定賜給你口才，也賜給他口才，指教你所應當行的事。

你起來、進城，你所應該作的、就有人告訴你。』

和押沙龍一同去的有二百人、是從耶路撒冷被請的：這些人是天真無邪去的，並不知道甚麼事。

耶西就打發人去領他來：他臉色赤紅：雙目清秀，丰采俊美。永恆主說：『這一個就是了；你起來膏他。』撒母耳就拿了油角，在他哥哥們中間膏了他；從那一天起、永恆主的靈就大大感動大衛。於是撒母耳起身、往拉瑪去了。

『你進了永恆主你的上帝所賜給你去取得而居住的地那時候，若說：「我要立王管理我、像我四圍的列國一樣」；那麼你總要立永恆主你的上帝所要揀選的人做王來管理你；你要從你族弟兄中立一位做王來管理你；不可讓一個外籍人、不是你族弟兄的、管理你。

少女回答他們說：『在這裏；看哪，就在你們面前呢；現在快去吧；因為他今天正到城裏來，因為今天在邱壇那裏、人民有獻祭的事。在他還沒有上邱壇喫祭物之先，你們一進城，就會遇見他；因為他未到，人民總不喫的；要等他先祝謝了祭物，然後被請的才喫；現在你們上去吧，因為馬上就會遇見他。』

耶穌又應時用比喻對他們說：『天國好比一個做王的人，為兒子辦婚筵，差遣他的奴僕去叫被請的人來赴婚筵；他們卻不願意來。他又差遣別的奴僕，說：「要告訴那些被請的人說：看哪，我的筵席我已經豫備好了；我的公牛和肥畜已經宰了，百物齊備了，來赴婚筵吧！」
