“ But get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

Two hundred men from Jerusalem went with Absalom. They had been invited and were going innocently, for they knew nothing about the whole matter.

Then Samuel set out and went to Ramah.

“ When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, take possession of it, live in it, and say,‘ I will set a king over me like all the nations around me,’you are to appoint over you the king the Lord your God chooses. Appoint a king from your brothers. You are not to set a foreigner over you, or one who is not of your people.

The women answered,“ Yes, he is ahead of you. Hurry, he just now came to the city, because there’s a sacrifice for the people at the high place today.If you go quickly, you can catch up with him before he goes to the high place to eat. The people won’t eat until he comes because he must bless the sacrifice; after that, the guests can eat. Go up immediately— you can find him now.”

Once more Jesus spoke to them in parables:“ The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding banquet for his son.He sent out his slaves to summon those invited to the banquet, but they didn’t want to come.Again, he sent out other slaves, and said,‘ Tell those who are invited: Look, I’ve prepared my dinner; my oxen and fattened cattle have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’
