押沙龙在耶路撒冷请了二百人与他同去，都是诚诚实实去的，并不知道其中的真情。

耶西就打发人去叫了他来。他面色光红，双目清秀，容貌俊美。耶和华说：“这就是他，你起来膏他。”撒母耳就用角里的膏油，在他诸兄中膏了他。从这日起，耶和华的灵就大大感动大卫。撒母耳起身回拉玛去了。

“到了耶和华你神所赐你的地，得了那地居住的时候，若说：‘我要立王治理我，像四围的国一样。’你总要立耶和华你神所拣选的人为王。必从你弟兄中立一人；不可立你弟兄以外的人为王。

女子回答说：“在这里，他在你们前面。快去吧！他今日正到城里，因为今日百姓要在邱坛献祭。在他还没有上邱坛吃祭物之先，你们一进城必遇见他；因他未到，百姓不能吃，必等他先祝祭，然后请的客才吃。现在你们上去，这时候必遇见他。”

耶稣又用比喻对他们说：“天国好比一个王为他儿子摆设娶亲的筵席，就打发仆人去，请那些被召的人来赴席，他们却不肯来。王又打发别的仆人，说：‘你们告诉那被召的人，我的筵席已经预备好了，牛和肥畜已经宰了，各样都齐备，请你们来赴席。’
