耶西就派人去把他带来；他面色红润，双目清秀，样貌英俊。耶和华说：“起来膏抹他，就是这个人！”于是撒母耳拿起装膏油的犄角，在他兄弟们当中膏抹了他。从那天以后，耶和华的灵就大大临到大卫。撒母耳起身回拉玛去了。

那些少女回答说：“是，就在你们前面。现在赶快去吧，他今天确实来到这城了，因为今天民众要在高所举行祭祀。你们一进城就会遇见他——那时正是他登上高所用餐之前；民众不会在他来到之前吃，一定要等他为祭物祝谢了才吃；之后客人才开始吃。现在上去吧，因为你们立刻就会遇见他。”

耶稣又用比喻对他们说：“天国好比一个君王，为自己的儿子预备婚宴。他派了奴仆们去叫那些被邀请的人前来赴宴，可是他们不肯来。王又派了别的奴仆，说：‘你们去对那些被邀请的人说，看哪，我的午餐我已经预备好了，公牛和肥畜已经宰杀了，一切都预备好了，请你们来赴婚宴。’
