Until the day Samuel died, he did not go to see Saul again, though Samuel mourned for him. And the Lord regretted that he had made Saul king over Israel.

耶和華對撒母耳說：「你為掃羅悲慟要到什麼時候呢？我已經厭棄他作以色列的王。你把犄角裝滿膏油，去吧，我要派遣你到伯利恆人耶西那裡，因為我在他的兒子中選定了一個王。」

「我後悔立掃羅為王了，因為他轉離不跟從我，也不執行我的命令。」撒母耳為此很苦惱，整夜向耶和華哀求。

他脫下衣服，也在撒母耳面前說預言，整日整夜赤身躺臥。因此人們說：「難道掃羅也算在先知中嗎？」

耶和華就後悔在地上造了人，心中憂傷。

其實我過去再三地告訴你們，而現在又流著眼淚告訴你們：有許多人的行事為人，是基督十字架的仇敵。

我的眼睛淚流成河，因為人們不遵守你的律法。

我極其憂傷，心裡時常苦痛。為了我的同胞，我的骨肉之親，就算我自己被詛咒、與基督分離，我也願意。

我看見背信者就厭惡，因為他們不遵守你的話語。
