Then Saul admitted to Samuel,“ Yes, I have sinned. I have disobeyed your instructions and the Lord’s command, for I was afraid of the people and did what they demanded.

掃羅對撒母耳說：「我犯罪了！我確實違背了耶和華的吩咐和你的話語。因為我怕軍兵，就聽了他們的話。

掃羅曰、我干罪矣、我畏斯民、聽從其言、故違耶和華命、及爾之言、

掃羅曰、我誠有罪、我畏斯民、聽其言詞、故干犯耶和華及爾所命。

掃羅謂撒母耳曰、我誠有罪、我犯主命與爾言、因我畏斯民而聽其言、

Then Saul said to Samuel,“ I have sinned. I violated the Lord’s command and your instructions. I was afraid of the men and so I gave in to them.

Then Saul said to Samuel,“ I have sinned. I’ve broken the Lord’ s command. I haven’t done what you directed me to do. I was afraid of the men. So I did what they said I should do.

Saul said to Samuel,“ I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.

Saul answered Samuel,“ I have sinned. I have transgressed the LORD’s command and your words. Because I was afraid of the people, I obeyed them.

Then Saul said to Samuel,“ I have sinned, for I have violated the command of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and listened to their voice.

Then Saul said to Samuel,“ I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.

And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned; for I have transgressed the commandment of Jehovah, and thy words, because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.

Saul said to Samuel,“ I have sinned; for I have transgressed the commandment of Yahweh, and your words, because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.

Then David confessed to Nathan,“ I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan replied,“ Yes, but the Lord has forgiven you, and you won’t die for this sin.

“ I, yes I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans, who wither like the grass and disappear?Yet you have forgotten the Lord, your Creator, the one who stretched out the sky like a canopy and laid the foundations of the earth. Will you remain in constant dread of human oppressors? Will you continue to fear the anger of your enemies? Where is their fury and anger now? It is gone!

Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.

Then Balaam confessed to the angel of the Lord,“ I have sinned. I didn’t realize you were standing in the road to block my way. I will return home if you are against my going.”

Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.

“ But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars— their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

The man replied,“ It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.”

Pilate argued with them, because he wanted to release Jesus.But they kept shouting,“ Crucify him! Crucify him!”For the third time he demanded,“ Why? What crime has he committed? I have found no reason to sentence him to death. So I will have him flogged, and then I will release him.”But the mob shouted louder and louder, demanding that Jesus be crucified, and their voices prevailed.So Pilate sentenced Jesus to die as they demanded.As they had requested, he released Barabbas, the man in prison for insurrection and murder. But he turned Jesus over to them to do as they wished.

Pharaoh quickly summoned Moses and Aaron.“ I have sinned against the Lord your God and against you,” he confessed.

Saul and his men spared Agag’s life and kept the best of the sheep and goats, the cattle, the fat calves, and the lambs— everything, in fact, that appealed to them. They destroyed only what was worthless or of poor quality.

Have I feared the crowd or the contempt of the masses, so that I kept quiet and stayed indoors?

Then Pharaoh quickly summoned Moses and Aaron.“ This time I have sinned,” he confessed.“ The Lord is the righteous one, and my people and I are wrong.

Then Saul pleaded again,“ I know I have sinned. But please, at least honor me before the elders of my people and before Israel by coming back with me so that I may worship the Lord your God.”

And to the man he said,“ Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it.

“ It’s true that the army spared the best of the sheep, goats, and cattle,” Saul admitted.“ But they are going to sacrifice them to the Lord your God. We have destroyed everything else.”

“ You must not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you are called to testify in a dispute, do not be swayed by the crowd to twist justice.

So why do you scorn my sacrifices and offerings? Why do you give your sons more honor than you give me— for you and they have become fat from the best offerings of my people Israel!

King Zedekiah agreed.“ All right,” he said.“ Do as you like. I can’t stop you.”

“ I have sinned,” he declared,“ for I have betrayed an innocent man.”“ What do we care?” they retorted.“ That’s your problem.”
