Samuel replied,“ Then what is this sound of sheep, goats, and cattle I hear?”

撒母耳说：“我耳中听见有羊叫、牛鸣，是从哪里来的呢？”

撒母耳说：“我耳中听见有羊叫、牛鸣的声音，又是什么呢？”

撒母耳说：“我耳中听见有羊叫、牛鸣的声音，又是什么呢？”

撒母耳说：“那么，我现在听见的牛羊叫声是从哪里来的？”

撒母耳说：“我耳中听见有羊叫牛鸣的声音，到底是什么呢？”

撒母耳说：“那么我耳中这羊叫的声音、我所听见的牛叫声，是怎么回事呢？”

撒母耳說：「我耳中聽見有羊叫、牛鳴，是從哪裏來的呢？」

撒母耳說：「我耳中聽見有羊叫、牛鳴的聲音，又是甚麼呢？」

撒母耳說：「我耳中聽見有羊叫、牛鳴的聲音，又是甚麼呢？」

撒母耳說：「那麼，我現在聽見的牛羊叫聲是從哪裡來的？」

撒母耳說：“我耳中聽見有羊叫牛鳴的聲音，到底是甚麼呢？”

撒母耳說：『那麼傳入我耳中的這羊叫的聲音、和我所聽見牛叫的聲音，都是怎麼回事啊？』

撒母耳說：「那麼我耳中這羊叫的聲音、我所聽見的牛叫聲，是怎麼回事呢？」

撒母耳曰、然則我聞羊鳴牛鳴、是何意耶、

撒母耳曰、羊鳴牛吼、入於我耳、是何故與。

撒母耳曰、若然、則入我耳之羊鳴、我所聞之牛吼、由何至歟、

But Samuel said,“ What then is this bleating of sheep in my ears? What is this lowing of cattle that I hear?”

But Samuel said,“ Then why do I hear the baaing of sheep? Why do I hear the mooing of cattle?”

And Samuel said,“ What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears and the lowing of the oxen that I hear?”

“ Then what is all the bleating of sheep and goats and the lowing of cattle I hear?” Samuel demanded.

But Samuel said,“ What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the bellowing of the oxen which I hear?”

But Samuel said,“ What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?”

And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?

Samuel replied,“ Then what is this sound of sheep and cattle I hear?”

And Samuel said, What[ meaneth] then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?

Samuel replied,“ If that is the case, then what is this sound of sheep in my ears and the sound of cattle that I hear?”

Samuel said,“ Then what does this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the lowing of the cattle which I hear mean?”

So don’t judge anything prematurely, before the Lord comes, who will both bring to light what is hidden in darkness and reveal the intentions of the hearts. And then praise will come to each one from God.

For with his flattering opinion of himself, he does not discover and hate his iniquity.

But God says to the wicked:“ What right do you have to recite my statutes and to take my covenant on your lips?You hate instruction and fling my words behind you.When you see a thief, you make friends with him, and you associate with adulterers.You unleash your mouth for evil and harness your tongue for deceit.You sit, maligning your brother, slandering your mother’s son.You have done these things, and I kept silent; you thought I was just like you. But I will rebuke you and lay out the case before you.

Now we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those who are subject to the law, so that every mouth may be shut and the whole world may become subject to God’s judgment.

Moreover, your skirts are stained with the blood of the innocent poor. You did not catch them breaking and entering. But in spite of all these thingsyou claim,“ I am innocent. His anger is sure to turn away from me.” But I will certainly judge you because you have said,“ I have not sinned.”How unstable you are, constantly changing your ways! You will be put to shame by Egypt just as you were put to shame by Assyria.Moreover, you will be led out from here with your hands on your head since the LORD has rejected those you trust; you will not succeed even with their help.

Now what will you gain by traveling along the way to Egypt to drink the water of the Nile? What will you gain by traveling along the way to Assyria to drink the water of the Euphrates?Your own evil will discipline you; your own apostasies will reprimand you. Recognize how evil and bitter it is for you to abandon the LORD your God and to have no fear of me. This is the declaration of the Lord GOD of Armies.

Even if you wash with lye and use a great amount of bleach, the stain of your iniquity is still in front of me. This is the Lord GOD’s declaration.How can you protest,“ I am not defiled; I have not followed the Baals”? Look at your behavior in the valley; acknowledge what you have done. You are a swift young camel twisting and turning on her way,

“ Your words against me are harsh,” says the LORD. Yet you ask,“ What have we spoken against you?”You have said,“ It is useless to serve God. What have we gained by keeping his requirements and walking mournfully before the LORD of Armies?So now we consider the arrogant to be fortunate. Not only do those who commit wickedness prosper, they even test God and escape.”
