“ I am sorry that I ever made Saul king, for he has not been loyal to me and has refused to obey my command.” Samuel was so deeply moved when he heard this that he cried out to the Lord all night.

“我立扫罗为王，我后悔了；因为他转去不跟从我，不遵守我的命令。”撒母耳便甚忧愁，终夜哀求耶和华。

“我后悔立扫罗为王了，因为他转离不跟从我，也不执行我的命令。”撒母耳为此很苦恼，整夜向耶和华哀求。

『我設立掃羅為王、我後悔了，因為他退轉而不跟從我，不實行我吩咐的話。』撒母耳很着急，終夜向永恆主哀呼。

「我後悔立掃羅為王了，因為他轉離不跟從我，也不執行我的命令。」撒母耳為此很苦惱，整夜向耶和華哀求。

我立掃羅為王、今則悔之、以其背我、而不我從、亦不遵行我命、撒母耳怒、終夜籲耶和華、

掃羅違我、不遵我命、昔立之為王、今則悔焉。撒母耳甚憂、終夜禱耶和華。

“ I regret that I have made Saul king, because he has turned away from me and has not carried out my instructions.” Samuel was angry, and he cried out to the Lord all that night.

“ I am very sad I have made Saul king. He has turned away from me. He has not done what I directed him to do.” When Samuel heard that, he was angry. He cried out to the Lord during that whole night.

“ I regret that I have made Saul king, for he has turned back from following me and has not performed my commandments.” And Samuel was angry, and he cried to the Lord all night.

“ I regret that I made Saul king, for he has turned away from following me and has not carried out my instructions.” So Samuel became angry and cried out to the LORD all night.

“ I regret that I have made Saul king, because he has turned back from following Me and has not carried out My commands.” And Samuel was furious and cried out to the Lord all night.

“ I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments.” And it grieved Samuel, and he cried out to the Lord all night.

It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king; for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And Samuel was wroth; and he cried unto Jehovah all night.

“ I regret that I made Saul king, for he has turned away from following Me and has not carried out My instructions.” So Samuel became angry and cried out to the Lord all night.

It repenteth me that I have set up Saul[ to be] king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night.

“ I regret that I have made Saul king, for he has turned away from me and has not done what I told him to do.” Samuel became angry and he cried out to the LORD all that night.

“ It grieves me that I have set up Saul to be king; for he has turned back from following me, and has not performed my commandments.” Samuel was angry; and he cried to Yahweh all night.

“ How foolish!” Samuel exclaimed.“ You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you. Had you kept it, the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever.

So the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart.

“ The whole community of the Lord demands to know why you are betraying the God of Israel. How could you turn away from the Lord and build an altar for yourselves in rebellion against him?

But as the angel was preparing to destroy Jerusalem, the Lord relented and said to the death angel,“ Stop! That is enough!” At that moment the angel of the Lord was by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

Rivers of tears gush from my eyes because people disobey your instructions. Tsadhe

Now go and completely destroy the entire Amalekite nation— men, women, children, babies, cattle, sheep, goats, camels, and donkeys.”

Saul and his men spared Agag’s life and kept the best of the sheep and goats, the cattle, the fat calves, and the lambs— everything, in fact, that appealed to them. They destroyed only what was worthless or of poor quality.

Everything they say is crooked and deceitful. They refuse to act wisely or do good.

Quick! Begin your weeping! Let the tears flow from your eyes.

One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night.

They turned back and were as faithless as their parents. They were as undependable as a crooked bow.

And if you still refuse to listen, I will weep alone because of your pride. My eyes will overflow with tears, because the Lord’s flock will be led away into exile.

Samuel never went to meet with Saul again, but he mourned constantly for him. And the Lord was sorry he had ever made Saul king of Israel.Now the Lord said to Samuel,“ You have mourned long enough for Saul. I have rejected him as king of Israel, so fill your flask with olive oil and go to Bethlehem. Find a man named Jesse who lives there, for I have selected one of his sons to be my king.”

But banish those who turn to crooked ways, O Lord. Take them away with those who do evil. May Israel have peace!

But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

And I will destroy those who used to worship me but now no longer do. They no longer ask for the Lord’s guidance or seek my blessings.”

And my righteous ones will live by faith. But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”

The Lord has taken an oath and will not break his vow:“ You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.”

I love them, but they try to destroy me with accusations even as I am praying for them!

“ As for me, I will certainly not sin against the Lord by ending my prayers for you. And I will continue to teach you what is good and right.

With Christ as my witness, I speak with utter truthfulness. My conscience and the Holy Spirit confirm it.My heart is filled with bitter sorrow and unending grieffor my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters. I would be willing to be forever cursed— cut off from Christ!— if that would save them.

If only my head were a pool of water and my eyes a fountain of tears, I would weep day and night for all my people who have been slaughtered.

If I announce that a certain nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down, and destroyed,but then that nation renounces its evil ways, I will not destroy it as I had planned.And if I announce that I will plant and build up a certain nation or kingdom,but then that nation turns to evil and refuses to obey me, I will not bless it as I said I would.

So the Lord relented from this plan.“ I will not do it,” he said.

So he complained to the Lord about it:“ Didn’t I say before I left home that you would do this, Lord? That is why I ran away to Tarshish! I knew that you are a merciful and compassionate God, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. You are eager to turn back from destroying people.

When God saw what they had done and how they had put a stop to their evil ways, he changed his mind and did not carry out the destruction he had threatened.

But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!

But as he came closer to Jerusalem and saw the city ahead, he began to weep.“ How I wish today that you of all people would understand the way to peace. But now it is too late, and peace is hidden from your eyes.Before long your enemies will build ramparts against your walls and encircle you and close in on you from every side.They will crush you into the ground, and your children with you. Your enemies will not leave a single stone in place, because you did not recognize it when God visited you.”

“ But if you or your descendants abandon me and disobey the commands and decrees I have given you, and if you serve and worship other gods,then I will uproot Israel from this land that I have given them. I will reject this Temple that I have made holy to honor my name. I will make Israel an object of mockery and ridicule among the nations.

Again and again they tested God’s patience and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
