Saul therefore said,“ Come here, all you who are leaders of the army, and let us find out what sin has been committed today.

掃羅說：「你們百姓中的長老都上這裏來，查明今日是誰犯了罪。

掃羅說：「百姓中的眾領袖，你們都要近前來到這裏，查明今日這罪是怎樣發生的。

掃羅說：「你們這些百姓的首領到這裡來，我們要查出今天究竟誰犯了罪，

掃羅說：“民間的眾領袖啊，你們都要走近這裡來；你們要查看今天我們犯了甚麼罪。

掃羅說：『人民所有的中堅人物啊，你們都要走近前來到這裏，來察知、來看明今天這罪是在哪裏。

掃羅說：「所有軍兵的首領，你們都上這裡來，要查看今天這罪是怎麼發生的！

掃羅曰、爾民長俱前來、察知今日之罪何在、

掃羅曰、惟爾民長、咸必前來、欲知今日誰干罪戾、

掃羅曰、惟爾民長、咸當來此、究察今日之罪因何故、或作今日誰干罪戾

Saul said to the leaders of the army,“ Come here. Let’s find out what sin has been committed today.

And Saul said,“ Come here, all you leaders of the people, and know and see how this sin has arisen today.

Then Saul said to the leaders,“ Something’s wrong! I want all my army commanders to come here. We must find out what sin was committed today.

Saul said,“ All you leaders of the troops, come here. Let’s investigate how this sin has occurred today.

Then Saul said,“ Come here, all you leaders of the people, and investigate and see how this sin has happened today.

And Saul said,“ Come over here, all you chiefs of the people, and know and see what this sin was today.

And Saul said, Draw nigh hither, all ye chiefs of the people; and know and see wherein this sin hath been this day.

Saul said,“ All you leaders of the troops, come here. Let us investigate how this sin has occurred today.

And Saul said, Draw ye near hither, all the chief of the people: and know and see wherein this sin hath been this day.

Then Saul said,“ All you leaders of the army come here. Find out how this sin occurred today.

Saul said,“ Draw near here, all you chiefs of the people; and know and see in which this sin has been today.

But you have now rejected your God, who saves you out of all your disasters and calamities. And you have said,‘ No, appoint a king over us.’ So now present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes and clans.”When Samuel had all Israel come forward by tribes, the tribe of Benjamin was taken by lot.

The leaders of all the people of the tribes of Israel took their places in the assembly of God’s people, four hundred thousand men armed with swords.

From Judah will come the cornerstone, from him the tent peg, from him the battle bow, from him every ruler.

Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions.

Jesus said to them,“ Have you never read in the Scriptures:“‘ The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes’

But the men said,“ You must not go out; if we are forced to flee, they won’t care about us. Even if half of us die, they won’t care; but you are worth ten thousand of us. It would be better now for you to give us support from the city.”

“‘ In the morning, present yourselves tribe by tribe. The tribe the Lord chooses shall come forward clan by clan; the clan the Lord chooses shall come forward family by family; and the family the Lord chooses shall come forward man by man.Whoever is caught with the devoted things shall be destroyed by fire, along with all that belongs to him. He has violated the covenant of the Lord and has done an outrageous thing in Israel!’”Early the next morning Joshua had Israel come forward by tribes, and Judah was chosen.The clans of Judah came forward, and the Zerahites were chosen. He had the clan of the Zerahites come forward by families, and Zimri was chosen.Joshua had his family come forward man by man, and Achan son of Karmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was chosen.Then Joshua said to Achan,“ My son, give glory to the Lord, the God of Israel, and honor him. Tell me what you have done; do not hide it from me.”Achan replied,“ It is true! I have sinned against the Lord, the God of Israel. This is what I have done:When I saw in the plunder a beautiful robe from Babylonia, two hundred shekels of silver and a bar of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. They are hidden in the ground inside my tent, with the silver underneath.”So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent, and there it was, hidden in his tent, with the silver underneath.They took the things from the tent, brought them to Joshua and all the Israelites and spread them out before the Lord.Then Joshua, together with all Israel, took Achan son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the gold bar, his sons and daughters, his cattle, donkeys and sheep, his tent and all that he had, to the Valley of Achor.Joshua said,“ Why have you brought this trouble on us? The Lord will bring trouble on you today.” Then all Israel stoned him, and after they had stoned the rest, they burned them.Over Achan they heaped up a large pile of rocks, which remains to this day. Then the Lord turned from his fierce anger. Therefore that place has been called the Valley of Achor ever since.
