Then Saul said,“ All you leaders of the army come here. Find out how this sin occurred today.

扫罗说：“所有军兵的首领，你们都上这里来，要查看今天这罪是怎么发生的！

掃羅說：「你們百姓中的長老都上這裏來，查明今日是誰犯了罪。

掃羅說：「百姓中的眾領袖，你們都要近前來到這裏，查明今日這罪是怎樣發生的。

掃羅說：「你們這些百姓的首領到這裡來，我們要查出今天究竟誰犯了罪，

掃羅說：“民間的眾領袖啊，你們都要走近這裡來；你們要查看今天我們犯了甚麼罪。

掃羅說：『人民所有的中堅人物啊，你們都要走近前來到這裏，來察知、來看明今天這罪是在哪裏。

掃羅說：「所有軍兵的首領，你們都上這裡來，要查看今天這罪是怎麼發生的！

掃羅曰、爾民長俱前來、察知今日之罪何在、

掃羅曰、惟爾民長、咸必前來、欲知今日誰干罪戾、

掃羅曰、惟爾民長、咸當來此、究察今日之罪因何故、或作今日誰干罪戾

Saul therefore said,“ Come here, all you who are leaders of the army, and let us find out what sin has been committed today.

Saul said to the leaders of the army,“ Come here. Let’s find out what sin has been committed today.

And Saul said,“ Come here, all you leaders of the people, and know and see how this sin has arisen today.

Then Saul said to the leaders,“ Something’s wrong! I want all my army commanders to come here. We must find out what sin was committed today.

Saul said,“ All you leaders of the troops, come here. Let’s investigate how this sin has occurred today.

Then Saul said,“ Come here, all you leaders of the people, and investigate and see how this sin has happened today.

And Saul said,“ Come over here, all you chiefs of the people, and know and see what this sin was today.

And Saul said, Draw nigh hither, all ye chiefs of the people; and know and see wherein this sin hath been this day.

Saul said,“ All you leaders of the troops, come here. Let us investigate how this sin has occurred today.

And Saul said, Draw ye near hither, all the chief of the people: and know and see wherein this sin hath been this day.

Saul said,“ Draw near here, all you chiefs of the people; and know and see in which this sin has been today.

But today you have rejected your God who saves you from all your trouble and distress. You have said,“ No! Appoint a king over us.” Now take your positions before the LORD by your tribes and by your clans.’”Then Samuel brought all the tribes of Israel near, and the tribe of Benjamin was chosen by lot.

The leaders of all the people from all the tribes of Israel took their places in the assembly of God’s people, which numbered four hundred thousand sword-wielding foot soldiers.

From him will come the cornerstone, the wall peg, the battle bow, and every ruler.

Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenantal commandment! They have taken some of the riches; they have stolen them and deceitfully put them among their own possessions.

Jesus said to them,“ Have you never read in the scriptures:‘ The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?

But the soldiers replied,“ You should not do this! For if we should have to make a rapid retreat, they won’t be too concerned about us. Even if half of us should die, they won’t be too concerned about us. But you are like ten thousand of us! So it is better if you remain in the city for support.”

In the morning you must approach in tribal order. The tribe the LORD selects must approach by clans. The clan the LORD selects must approach by families. The family the LORD selects must approach man by man.The one caught with the riches must be burned up along with all who belong to him, because he violated the LORD’s covenant and did such a disgraceful thing in Israel.’”Bright and early the next morning Joshua made Israel approach in tribal order and the tribe of Judah was selected.He then made the clans of Judah approach and the clan of the Zerahites was selected. He made the clan of the Zerahites approach and Zabdi was selected.He then made Zabdi’s family approach man by man and Achan son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, was selected.So Joshua said to Achan,“ My son, honor the LORD God of Israel and give him praise! Tell me what you did; don’t hide anything from me!”Achan told Joshua,“ It is true. I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel in this way:I saw among the goods we seized a nice robe from Babylon, two hundred silver pieces, and a bar of gold weighing fifty shekels. I wanted them, so I took them. They are hidden in the ground right in the middle of my tent with the silver underneath.”Joshua sent messengers who ran to the tent. The things were hidden right in his tent, with the silver underneath.They took it all from the middle of the tent, brought it to Joshua and all the Israelites, and placed it before the LORD.Then Joshua and all Israel took Achan, son of Zerah, along with the silver, the robe, the bar of gold, his sons, daughters, ox, donkey, sheep, tent, and all that belonged to him and brought them up to the Valley of Disaster.Joshua said,“ Why have you brought disaster on us? The LORD will bring disaster on you today!” All Israel stoned him to death.( They also stoned and burned the others.)Then they erected over him a large pile of stones( it remains to this very day) and the LORD’s anger subsided. So that place is called the Valley of Disaster to this very day.

because you have been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.

‘ I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not close at hand. A star will march forth out of Jacob, and a scepter will rise out of Israel. He will crush the skulls of Moab, and the heads of all the sons of Sheth.

The nobles of the nations assemble, along with the people of the God of Abraham, for God has authority over the rulers of the earth. He is highly exalted!
