掃羅說：「你們這些百姓的首領到這裡來，我們要查出今天究竟誰犯了罪，

掃羅說：“民間的眾領袖啊，你們都要走近這裡來；你們要查看今天我們犯了甚麼罪。

掃羅說：『人民所有的中堅人物啊，你們都要走近前來到這裏，來察知、來看明今天這罪是在哪裏。

掃羅說：「所有軍兵的首領，你們都上這裡來，要查看今天這罪是怎麼發生的！

掃羅曰、爾民長俱前來、察知今日之罪何在、

掃羅曰、惟爾民長、咸必前來、欲知今日誰干罪戾、

掃羅曰、惟爾民長、咸當來此、究察今日之罪因何故、或作今日誰干罪戾

Saul therefore said,“ Come here, all you who are leaders of the army, and let us find out what sin has been committed today.

And Saul said,“ Come over here, all you chiefs of the people, and know and see what this sin was today.

And Saul said, Draw nigh hither, all ye chiefs of the people; and know and see wherein this sin hath been this day.

Saul said,“ All you leaders of the troops, come here. Let us investigate how this sin has occurred today.

And Saul said, Draw ye near hither, all the chief of the people: and know and see wherein this sin hath been this day.

Then Saul said,“ All you leaders of the army come here. Find out how this sin occurred today.

Saul said,“ Draw near here, all you chiefs of the people; and know and see in which this sin has been today.

But today you have rejected your God, who saves you from all your catastrophes and your distresses; yet you have said,‘ No, but put a king over us!’ Now then, present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes and by your groups of thousands.”So Samuel brought all the tribes of Israel forward; and the tribe of Benjamin was selected by lot.

And the leaders of all the people, all the tribes of Israel, took their stand in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand foot soldiers who drew the sword.

From them will come the cornerstone, From them the tent peg, From them the bow of battle, From them every tyrant, all of them together.

Israel has sinned, and they have also violated My covenant which I commanded them. And they have even taken some of the things designated for destruction, and have both stolen and kept it a secret. Furthermore, they have also put them among their own things.

Jesus* said to them,“ Did you never read in the Scriptures,‘ A stone which the builders rejected, This has become the chief cornerstone; This came about from the Lord, And it is marvelous in our eyes’?

But the people said,“ You should not go out; for if in fact we flee, they will not care about us; and if half of us die, they will not care about us. But you are worth ten thousand of us; so now it is better that you will be ready to help us from the city.”

So in the morning you shall come forward by your tribes. And it shall be that the tribe which the Lord selects by lot shall come forward by families, and the family which the Lord selects shall come forward by households, and the household which the Lord selects shall come forward man by man.And it shall be that the one who is selected with the things designated for destruction shall be burned with fire, he and all that belongs to him, because he has violated the covenant of the Lord, and because he has committed a disgraceful thing in Israel.’ ”So Joshua got up early in the morning and brought Israel forward by tribes, and the tribe of Judah was selected.So he brought the family of Judah forward, and he selected the family of the Zerahites; then he brought the family of the Zerahites forward man by man, and Zabdi was selected.And he brought his household forward man by man; and Achan, son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, was selected.Then Joshua said to Achan,“ My son, I implore you, give glory to the Lord, the God of Israel, and give praise to Him; and tell me now what you have done. Do not hide it from me.”So Achan answered Joshua and said,“ Truly, I have sinned against the Lord, the God of Israel, and this is what I did:when I saw among the spoils a beautiful robe from Shinar, two hundred shekels of silver, and a bar of gold fifty shekels in weight, then I wanted them and took them; and behold, they are hidden in the ground inside my tent, with the silver underneath.”So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; and behold, it was hidden in his tent with the silver underneath it.So they took them from inside the tent and brought them to Joshua and to all the sons of Israel; and they laid them out before the Lord.Then Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the bar of gold, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that belonged to him; and they brought them up to the Valley of Achor.And Joshua said,“ Why have you brought disaster on us? The Lord will bring disaster on you this day.” And all Israel stoned them with stones; and they burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones.Then they erected over him a large heap of stones that stands to this day, and the Lord turned from the fierceness of His anger. Therefore the name of that place has been called the Valley of Achor to this day.
