他对以色列人说：“让我们连夜追赶非利士人，抢夺他们的财物，直到天亮，把他们全部歼灭。”众人答道：“就照你的意思。”但祭司说：“让我们先来求问上帝吧。”

Saul said,“ Let us go down and pursue the Philistines by night and plunder them till dawn, and let us not leave one of them alive.”“ Do whatever seems best to you,” they replied. But the priest said,“ Let us inquire of God here.”

Saul said,“ Let’s go down and chase after the Philistines tonight. Let’s not leave even one of them alive. Let’s take everything they have before morning.”“ Do what you think is best,” they replied. But the priest said,“ Let’s ask God for advice first.”

Then Saul said,“ Let us go down after the Philistines by night and plunder them until the morning light; let us not leave a man of them.” And they said,“ Do whatever seems good to you.” But the priest said,“ Let us draw near to God here.”

Then Saul said,“ Let’s chase the Philistines all night and plunder them until sunrise. Let’s destroy every last one of them.” His men replied,“ We’ll do whatever you think is best.” But the priest said,“ Let’s ask God first.”

Saul said,“ Let’s go down after the Philistines tonight and plunder them until morning. Don’t let even one remain!”“ Do whatever you want,” the troops replied. But the priest said,“ Let’s approach God here.”

Then Saul said,“ Let’s go down after the Philistines by night and take plunder among them until the morning light, and let’s not leave a man among them alive.” And they said,“ Do whatever seems good to you.” So the priest said,“ Let’s approach God here.”

Now Saul said,“ Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and plunder them until the morning light; and let us not leave a man of them.” And they said,“ Do whatever seems good to you.” Then the priest said,“ Let us draw near to God here.”

And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and take spoil among them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever seemeth good unto thee. Then said the priest, Let us draw near hither unto God.

And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and spoil them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever seemeth good unto thee. Then said the priest, Let us draw near hither unto God.

Saul said,“ Let’s go down after the Philistines at night; we will rout them until the break of day. We won’t leave any of them alive!” They replied,“ Do whatever seems best to you.” But the priest said,“ Let’s approach God here.”

Saul said,“ Let’s go down after the Philistines by night, and take plunder among them until the morning light, and let’s not leave a man of them.” They said,“ Do whatever seems good to you.” Then the priest said,“ Let’s draw near here to God.”

雅各家，稱為以色列名下，從猶大的源頭而出的啊，你們指着耶和華的名起誓，提說以色列的上帝，卻不憑誠信，也不憑公義；你們自稱為聖城之民，倚靠名為萬軍之耶和華－以色列的上帝；現在，當聽我言：

從那些城鎮所奪的財物和牲畜，以色列人都取為自己的掠物。至於所有的人，他們都用刀殺了，直到滅盡；凡有氣息的，沒有留下一個。

要親近上帝，上帝就必親近你們。有罪的人哪，要潔淨你們的手！心懷二意的人哪，要清潔你們的心！

在那裏有亞希突的兒子亞希亞，穿着以弗得。亞希突是以迦博的哥哥，非尼哈的兒子，以利的孫子。以利從前在示羅作耶和華的祭司。約拿單去了，百姓卻不知道。

他們天天尋求我，樂意明白我的道，好像行義的國家，未離棄它的上帝的典章；他們向我求問公義的判詞，喜悅親近上帝。

你們卻不可停留，要追趕你們的仇敵，從後面攻擊他們，不讓他們進到自己的城鎮，因為耶和華－你們的上帝已經把他們交在你們手裏。」

「起來吧，我們要在夜間上去，毀壞它的宮殿。」

約書亞就連夜從吉甲上去，猛然襲擊他們。耶和華使他們在以色列人面前潰亂。約書亞在基遍大大擊殺他們，在伯‧和崙的上坡路上追趕他們，擊殺他們，直到亞西加和瑪基大。他們在以色列人面前逃跑。正在伯‧和崙下坡的時候，耶和華從天上降下大冰雹在他們身上，直降到亞西加，打死他們。被冰雹打死的，比以色列人用刀殺死的還多。當耶和華將亞摩利人交給以色列人的那一日，約書亞向耶和華說話，在以色列人眼前說：「太陽啊，停在基遍；月亮啊，停在亞雅崙谷。」太陽就停住，月亮就止住，直到國家向敵人報仇。這事豈不是寫在《雅煞珥書》上嗎？太陽停在天空當中，沒有急速落下，約有一整天。在這日以前，這日以後，耶和華聽人的聲音，沒有像這日的，這是因為耶和華為以色列作戰。

他要站在以利亞撒祭司面前；以利亞撒要憑烏陵的判斷，在耶和華面前為他求問。他和以色列全會眾都要照以利亞撒的指示出入。」

祭司的嘴唇當守護知識，人也當從他口中尋求訓誨，因為他是萬軍之耶和華的使者。

但我親近上帝是於我有益；我以主耶和華為我的避難所，好叫我述說你一切的作為。

那時上帝的約櫃在以色列人那裏。掃羅對亞希亞說：「你把上帝的約櫃請到這裏來。」掃羅正與祭司說話的時候，非利士營中的騷亂越來越劇烈；掃羅就對祭司說：「停手吧！」

第二日，掃羅把百姓分為三隊，在清晨換崗哨的時候入侵亞捫人的軍營，擊殺他們直到中午的時候。逃脫的人都分散了，甚至沒有兩個人同在一起。
