Now Saul said,“ Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and plunder them until the morning light; and let us not leave a man of them.” And they said,“ Do whatever seems good to you.” Then the priest said,“ Let us draw near to God here.”

他对以色列人说：“让我们连夜追赶非利士人，抢夺他们的财物，直到天亮，把他们全部歼灭。”众人答道：“就照你的意思。”但祭司说：“让我们先来求问上帝吧。”

扫罗说：“我们趁着晚上下去追赶非利士人，抢掠他们，直到天亮，不让他们留下一人。”他们说：“你看怎么好，就怎么行吧！”但祭司说：“我们先在这里亲近神！”

扫罗说：“我们要趁夜下去追赶非利士人，掠夺他们直到天亮，不让他们一人存留。”军兵说：“你看怎样好就怎样做吧！”但祭司说：“让我们在这里求问神。”

掃羅說：「我們要趁夜下去追趕非利士人，掠奪他們直到天亮，不讓他們一人存留。」軍兵說：「你看怎樣好就怎樣做吧！」但祭司說：「讓我們在這裡求問神。」

掃羅曰、我儕夤夜追襲非利士人、掠其所有、以至黎明、不留其一人、僉曰、爾視為善者行之、祭司曰、當詣上帝、

掃羅曰、我儕夤夜追襲非利士人、虜其所有、使其民人、靡有孑遺、迨至黎明、乃止。民對曰、爾可任意以行。祭司曰、當詣上帝前。

掃羅曰、不如乘夜追非利士人、掠其所有、擊之至於黎明、不留其一人、民曰、爾以為當如何行則行之、祭司曰、當在此至天主前、

Saul said,“ Let us go down and pursue the Philistines by night and plunder them till dawn, and let us not leave one of them alive.”“ Do whatever seems best to you,” they replied. But the priest said,“ Let us inquire of God here.”

Saul said,“ Let’s go down and chase after the Philistines tonight. Let’s not leave even one of them alive. Let’s take everything they have before morning.”“ Do what you think is best,” they replied. But the priest said,“ Let’s ask God for advice first.”

Then Saul said,“ Let us go down after the Philistines by night and plunder them until the morning light; let us not leave a man of them.” And they said,“ Do whatever seems good to you.” But the priest said,“ Let us draw near to God here.”

Then Saul said,“ Let’s chase the Philistines all night and plunder them until sunrise. Let’s destroy every last one of them.” His men replied,“ We’ll do whatever you think is best.” But the priest said,“ Let’s ask God first.”

Saul said,“ Let’s go down after the Philistines tonight and plunder them until morning. Don’t let even one remain!”“ Do whatever you want,” the troops replied. But the priest said,“ Let’s approach God here.”

Then Saul said,“ Let’s go down after the Philistines by night and take plunder among them until the morning light, and let’s not leave a man among them alive.” And they said,“ Do whatever seems good to you.” So the priest said,“ Let’s approach God here.”

And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and take spoil among them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever seemeth good unto thee. Then said the priest, Let us draw near hither unto God.

Saul said,“ Let’s go down after the Philistines tonight and plunder them until morning. Don’t let even one remain!”“ Do whatever you want,” the troops replied. But the priest said,“ We must consult God here.”

And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and spoil them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever seemeth good unto thee. Then said the priest, Let us draw near hither unto God.

Saul said,“ Let’s go down after the Philistines at night; we will rout them until the break of day. We won’t leave any of them alive!” They replied,“ Do whatever seems best to you.” But the priest said,“ Let’s approach God here.”

Saul said,“ Let’s go down after the Philistines by night, and take plunder among them until the morning light, and let’s not leave a man of them.” They said,“ Do whatever seems good to you.” Then the priest said,“ Let’s draw near here to God.”

“ Hear this, O house of Jacob, Who are called by the name of Israel, And have come forth from the wellsprings of Judah; Who swear by the name of the Lord, And make mention of the God of Israel, But not in truth or in righteousness;For they call themselves after the holy city, And lean on the God of Israel; The Lord of hosts is His name:

And all the spoil of these cities and the livestock, the children of Israel took as booty for themselves; but they struck every man with the edge of the sword until they had destroyed them, and they left none breathing.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Ahijah the son of Ahitub, Ichabod’s brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, the LORD’s priest in Shiloh, was wearing an ephod. But the people did not know that Jonathan had gone.

Yet they seek Me daily, And delight to know My ways, As a nation that did righteousness, And did not forsake the ordinance of their God. They ask of Me the ordinances of justice; They take delight in approaching God.

And do not stay there yourselves, but pursue your enemies, and attack their rear guard. Do not allow them to enter their cities, for the Lord your God has delivered them into your hand.”

Arise, and let us go by night, And let us destroy her palaces.”

Joshua therefore came upon them suddenly, having marched all night from Gilgal.So the Lord routed them before Israel, killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, chased them along the road that goes to Beth Horon, and struck them down as far as Azekah and Makkedah.And it happened, as they fled before Israel and were on the descent of Beth Horon, that the Lord cast down large hailstones from heaven on them as far as Azekah, and they died. There were more who died from the hailstones than the children of Israel killed with the sword.Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel:“ Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.”So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge Upon their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel.

He shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire before the Lord for him by the judgment of the Urim. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, he and all the children of Israel with him— all the congregation.”

“ For the lips of a priest should keep knowledge, And people should seek the law from his mouth; For he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.

But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, That I may declare all Your works.

And Saul said to Ahijah,“ Bring the ark of God here”( for at that time the ark of God was with the children of Israel).Now it happened, while Saul talked to the priest, that the noise which was in the camp of the Philistines continued to increase; so Saul said to the priest,“ Withdraw your hand.”

So it was, on the next day, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and killed Ammonites until the heat of the day. And it happened that those who survived were scattered, so that no two of them were left together.
