掃羅說：『我們今夜要下去追趕非利士人，擄掠他們、直到晨光發亮，不讓剩下一人。』眾民說：『你看怎麼好，就怎麼行吧。』祭司說：『我們應當先在這裏親近上帝。』

扫罗说：“我们不如夜里下去追赶非利士人，抢掠他们，直到天亮，不留他们一人。”众民说：“你看怎样好就去行吧！”祭司说：“我们先当亲近神。”

扫罗说：“我们要在夜里下去追赶非利士人，抢掠他们，直到天亮，不给他们留下一人。”众百姓说：“你看怎样好就做吧！”祭司说：“我们要先在这里亲近上帝。”

扫罗说：“我们要在夜里下去追赶非利士人，抢掠他们，直到天亮，不给他们留下一人。”众百姓说：“你看怎样好就做吧！”祭司说：“我们要先在这里亲近神。”

他对以色列人说：“让我们连夜追赶非利士人，抢夺他们的财物，直到天亮，把他们全部歼灭。”众人答道：“就照你的意思。”但祭司说：“让我们先来求问上帝吧。”

扫罗说：“我们趁着晚上下去追赶非利士人，抢掠他们，直到天亮，不让他们留下一人。”他们说：“你看怎么好，就怎么行吧！”但祭司说：“我们先在这里亲近神！”

扫罗说：“我们要趁夜下去追赶非利士人，掠夺他们直到天亮，不让他们一人存留。”军兵说：“你看怎样好就怎样做吧！”但祭司说：“让我们在这里求问神。”

他對以色列人說：「讓我們連夜追趕非利士人，搶奪他們的財物，直到天亮，把他們全部殲滅。」眾人答道：「就照你的意思。」但祭司說：「讓我們先來求問上帝吧。」

掃羅說：“我們趁著晚上下去追趕非利士人，搶掠他們，直到天亮，不讓他們留下一人。”他們說：“你看怎麼好，就怎麼行吧！”但祭司說：“我們先在這裡親近神！”

掃羅曰、不如乘夜追非利士人、掠其所有、擊之至於黎明、不留其一人、民曰、爾以為當如何行則行之、祭司曰、當在此至天主前、

Saul said,“ Let us go down and pursue the Philistines by night and plunder them till dawn, and let us not leave one of them alive.”“ Do whatever seems best to you,” they replied. But the priest said,“ Let us inquire of God here.”

Saul said,“ Let’s go down and chase after the Philistines tonight. Let’s not leave even one of them alive. Let’s take everything they have before morning.”“ Do what you think is best,” they replied. But the priest said,“ Let’s ask God for advice first.”

Then Saul said,“ Let us go down after the Philistines by night and plunder them until the morning light; let us not leave a man of them.” And they said,“ Do whatever seems good to you.” But the priest said,“ Let us draw near to God here.”

Then Saul said,“ Let’s chase the Philistines all night and plunder them until sunrise. Let’s destroy every last one of them.” His men replied,“ We’ll do whatever you think is best.” But the priest said,“ Let’s ask God first.”

Saul said,“ Let’s go down after the Philistines tonight and plunder them until morning. Don’t let even one remain!”“ Do whatever you want,” the troops replied. But the priest said,“ Let’s approach God here.”

Then Saul said,“ Let’s go down after the Philistines by night and take plunder among them until the morning light, and let’s not leave a man among them alive.” And they said,“ Do whatever seems good to you.” So the priest said,“ Let’s approach God here.”

Now Saul said,“ Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and plunder them until the morning light; and let us not leave a man of them.” And they said,“ Do whatever seems good to you.” Then the priest said,“ Let us draw near to God here.”

And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and take spoil among them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever seemeth good unto thee. Then said the priest, Let us draw near hither unto God.

Saul said,“ Let’s go down after the Philistines tonight and plunder them until morning. Don’t let even one remain!”“ Do whatever you want,” the troops replied. But the priest said,“ We must consult God here.”

And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and spoil them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever seemeth good unto thee. Then said the priest, Let us draw near hither unto God.

Saul said,“ Let’s go down after the Philistines at night; we will rout them until the break of day. We won’t leave any of them alive!” They replied,“ Do whatever seems best to you.” But the priest said,“ Let’s approach God here.”

Saul said,“ Let’s go down after the Philistines by night, and take plunder among them until the morning light, and let’s not leave a man of them.” They said,“ Do whatever seems good to you.” Then the priest said,“ Let’s draw near here to God.”

聽這話哦，雅各家啊，那稱為以色列名下的，那從猶大腹中出的，那指着永恆主耶和華的名來起誓，稱揚以色列之上帝，而不忠實，而無義氣的，儘管他們自稱為聖城的人，又依賴着以色列之上帝，萬軍之永恆主耶和華是他的名的。

這些城所有被掠之物和牲口。以色列人都劫為己有；只是所有的人他們都用刀擊殺，直到把他們消滅掉為止；凡有氣息的沒有剩下一個。

你們親近上帝，上帝就親近你們。罪人哪，潔淨你們的手吧；心懷二意的人哪，使你們的心清潔吧。

又有亞希突的兒子亞希亞帶着神諭像：亞希突是以迦博的兄弟、非尼哈的兒子、以利的孫子：以利從前在示羅做永恆主的祭司。約拿單去了，人民都不知道。

他們天天尋求的乃是我！他們喜歡明白的是我的道路！他們好像行義之國的人！不離棄他們的上帝之典章的！他們向我求問公義的審判，他們喜歡親近上帝呢！

你們呢、卻不可躭擱；要追趕仇敵，截擊他們的儘後隊，別容他們進自己的城；因為永恆主你們的上帝已經把他們交在你們手裏。』

『起來！我們乘夜上去！毁壞她的宮堡。』

約書亞就終夜從吉甲上去，猛然襲擊他們。永恆主使他們在以色列人面前潰亂；約書亞在基遍大大擊敗他們，沿伯和崙的上坡路向追趕他們，擊殺了他們、直到亞西加和瑪基大。他們從以色列人面前逃跑，正在伯和崙下坡的時候，永恆主從天上降了大冰石在他們身上，直降到亞西加，打死他們；那死於冰雹石的、比以色列人用刀殺死的還多。那時候，當永恆主將亞摩利人交付以色列人的日子，約書亞就對永恆主說話；他在以色列人眼前說：『日頭啊，在基遍停着哦；月亮啊，在亞雅崙山谷止住哦。』於是日頭就停着，月亮也站着，直等到國民在仇敵身上報了仇。這事豈不是寫在正直人詩歌集上麼？日頭在天當中站住，不急速下去、約有一整天。這日以前、這日以後、永恆主聽人的聲音、沒有像這一日的；因為永恆主真地為以色列爭戰了。

他要侍立在祭司以利亞撒面前，以利亞撒要憑烏陵的判斷在永恆主面前為他求問，他和跟着的以色列眾人、全會眾、都要照以利亞撒所吩咐的而出，照以利亞撒所吩咐的而入。』

因為祭司嘴裏應當保存着知識，人也應該從他口中尋求禮節規矩，因為他是萬軍之永恆主的使者。

至於我呢，親近上帝是最好的：我以主永恆主為我的避難所，好叫我敘說你一切的作為。

掃羅對亞希亞說：『將神諭像送來』；因為那一天是他在以色列人面前帶着神諭像。掃羅正和祭司說話的時候，非利士人營中的喧嚷越來越大了。掃羅就對祭司說：『停手吧。』

第二天掃羅把人民分為三隊，在晨更時候進了亞捫人營中，擊敗他們直到太陽正熱的時候；剩下的人都潰散，沒有剩下二人同在一處的。
