Now it fell on a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor,“ Come! Let’s go over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he didn’t tell his father.

One day Jonathan son of Saul said to his young armor- bearer,“ Come, let’s go over to the Philistine outpost on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

One day Jonathan, the son of Saul, spoke to the young man carrying his armor.“ Come on,” he said.“ Let’s go over to the Philistine army camp on the other side of the pass.” But he didn’t tell his father about it.

One day Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who carried his armor,“ Come, let us go over to the Philistine garrison on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

One day Jonathan said to his armor bearer,“ Come on, let’s go over to where the Philistines have their outpost.” But Jonathan did not tell his father what he was doing.

That same day Saul’s son Jonathan said to the attendant who carried his weapons,“ Come on, let’s cross over to the Philistine garrison on the other side.” However, he did not tell his father.

Now the day came that Jonathan, the son of Saul, said to the young man who was carrying his armor,“ Come, and let’s cross over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

Now it happened one day that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor,“ Come, let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

Now it fell upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armor, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that is on yonder side. But he told not his father.

That same day Saul’s son Jonathan said to the attendant who carried his weapons,“ Come on, let’s cross over to the Philistine garrison on the other side.” However, he did not tell his father.

Now it came to pass upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that[ is] on the other side. But he told not his father.

Then one day Jonathan son of Saul said to his armor bearer,“ Come on, let’s go over to the Philistine garrison that is opposite us.” But he did not let his father know.

Saul chose for himself three thousand men of Israel, of which two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in the Mount of Bethel, and one thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin. He sent the rest of the people to their own tents.

For, as Yahweh lives, who saves Israel, though it is in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die.” But there was not a man among all the people who answered him.Then he said to all Israel,“ You be on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side.” The people said to Saul,“ Do what seems good to you.”Therefore Saul said to Yahweh, the God of Israel,“ Show the right.” Jonathan and Saul were chosen, but the people escaped.Saul said,“ Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son.” Jonathan was selected.Then Saul said to Jonathan,“ Tell me what you have done!” Jonathan told him, and said,“ I certainly did taste a little honey with the end of the rod that was in my hand; and behold, I must die.”Saul said,“ God do so and more also; for you shall surely die, Jonathan.”The people said to Saul,“ Shall Jonathan die, who has worked this great salvation in Israel? Far from it! As Yahweh lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he has worked with God today!” So the people rescued Jonathan, that he didn’t die.

When he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.Saul took him that day, and wouldn’t let him go home to his father’s house any more.Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was on him, and gave it to David, and his clothing, even including his sword, his bow, and his sash.

How the mighty have fallen in the middle of the battle! Jonathan was slain on your high places.I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan. You have been very pleasant to me. Your love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.

David said to him,“ How did it go? Please tell me.” He answered,“ The people have fled from the battle, and many of the people also have fallen and are dead. Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.”David said to the young man who told him,“ How do you know that Saul and Jonathan his son are dead?”

So it came to pass in the day of battle, that neither sword nor spear was found in the hand of any of the people who were with Saul and Jonathan; but Saul and Jonathan his son had them.

Yahweh’s Spirit came mightily on him, and he tore him as he would have torn a young goat with his bare hands, but he didn’t tell his father or his mother what he had done.

Don’t trust in a neighbor. Don’t put confidence in a friend. With the woman lying in your embrace, be careful of the words of your mouth!

Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as Yahweh had spoken to him. Because he feared his father’s household and the men of the city, he could not do it by day, but he did it by night.

She said to her young men,“ Go on before me. Behold, I am coming after you.” But she didn’t tell her husband, Nabal.
