Then one day Jonathan son of Saul said to his armor bearer,“ Come on, let’s go over to the Philistine garrison that is opposite us.” But he did not let his father know.

One day Jonathan son of Saul said to his young armor- bearer,“ Come, let’s go over to the Philistine outpost on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

One day Jonathan, the son of Saul, spoke to the young man carrying his armor.“ Come on,” he said.“ Let’s go over to the Philistine army camp on the other side of the pass.” But he didn’t tell his father about it.

One day Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who carried his armor,“ Come, let us go over to the Philistine garrison on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

One day Jonathan said to his armor bearer,“ Come on, let’s go over to where the Philistines have their outpost.” But Jonathan did not tell his father what he was doing.

That same day Saul’s son Jonathan said to the attendant who carried his weapons,“ Come on, let’s cross over to the Philistine garrison on the other side.” However, he did not tell his father.

Now the day came that Jonathan, the son of Saul, said to the young man who was carrying his armor,“ Come, and let’s cross over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

Now it happened one day that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor,“ Come, let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

Now it fell upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armor, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that is on yonder side. But he told not his father.

That same day Saul’s son Jonathan said to the attendant who carried his weapons,“ Come on, let’s cross over to the Philistine garrison on the other side.” However, he did not tell his father.

Now it came to pass upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that[ is] on the other side. But he told not his father.

Now it fell on a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor,“ Come! Let’s go over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he didn’t tell his father.

Saul selected for himself three thousand men from Israel. Two thousand of these were with Saul at Micmash and in the hill country of Bethel; the remaining thousand were with Jonathan at Gibeah in the territory of Benjamin. He sent all the rest of the people back home.

For as surely as the LORD, the deliverer of Israel, lives, even if it turns out to be my own son Jonathan, he will certainly die!” But no one from the army said anything.Then he said to all Israel,“ You will be on one side, and I and my son Jonathan will be on the other side.” The army replied to Saul,“ Do whatever you think is best.”Then Saul said,“ O LORD God of Israel! If this sin has been committed by me or by my son Jonathan, then, O LORD God of Israel, respond with Urim. But if this sin has been committed by your people Israel, respond with Thummim.” Then Jonathan and Saul were indicated by lot, while the army was exonerated.Then Saul said,“ Cast the lot between me and my son Jonathan!” Jonathan was indicated by lot.So Saul said to Jonathan,“ Tell me what you have done.” Jonathan told him,“ I used the end of the staff that was in my hand to taste a little honey. I must die!”Saul said,“ God will punish me severely if Jonathan doesn’t die!”But the army said to Saul,“ Should Jonathan, who won this great victory in Israel, die? May it never be! As surely as the LORD lives, not a single hair of his head will fall to the ground! For it is with the help of God that he has acted today.” So the army rescued Jonathan from death.

When David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan and David became bound together in close friendship. Jonathan loved David as much as he did his own life.Saul retained David on that day and did not allow him to return to his father’s house.Jonathan made a covenant with David, for he loved him as much as he did his own life.Jonathan took off the robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with the rest of his gear, including his sword, his bow, and even his belt.

How the warriors have fallen in the midst of battle! Jonathan lies slain on your high places!I grieve over you, my brother Jonathan! You were very dear to me. Your love was more special to me than the love of women.

David inquired,“ How were things going? Tell me!” He replied,“ The people fled from the battle and many of them fell dead. Even Saul and his son Jonathan are dead!”David said to the young man who was telling him this,“ How do you know that Saul and his son Jonathan are dead?”

So on the day of the battle no sword or spear was to be found in the hand of anyone in the army that was with Saul and Jonathan. No one but Saul and his son Jonathan had them.

The LORD’s spirit empowered him and he tore the lion in two with his bare hands as easily as one would tear a young goat. But he did not tell his father or mother what he had done.

Do not rely on a friend; do not trust a companion! Don’t even share secrets with the one who lies in your arms!

So Gideon took ten of his servants and did just as the LORD had told him. He was too afraid of his father’s family and the men of the city to do it in broad daylight, so he waited until nighttime.

and said to her servants,“ Go on ahead of me. I will come after you.” But she did not tell her husband Nabal.
