Now the day came that Jonathan, the son of Saul, said to the young man who was carrying his armor,“ Come, and let’s cross over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

One day Jonathan son of Saul said to his young armor- bearer,“ Come, let’s go over to the Philistine outpost on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

One day Jonathan, the son of Saul, spoke to the young man carrying his armor.“ Come on,” he said.“ Let’s go over to the Philistine army camp on the other side of the pass.” But he didn’t tell his father about it.

One day Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who carried his armor,“ Come, let us go over to the Philistine garrison on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

One day Jonathan said to his armor bearer,“ Come on, let’s go over to where the Philistines have their outpost.” But Jonathan did not tell his father what he was doing.

That same day Saul’s son Jonathan said to the attendant who carried his weapons,“ Come on, let’s cross over to the Philistine garrison on the other side.” However, he did not tell his father.

Now it happened one day that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor,“ Come, let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

Now it fell upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armor, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that is on yonder side. But he told not his father.

That same day Saul’s son Jonathan said to the attendant who carried his weapons,“ Come on, let’s cross over to the Philistine garrison on the other side.” However, he did not tell his father.

Now it came to pass upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that[ is] on the other side. But he told not his father.

Then one day Jonathan son of Saul said to his armor bearer,“ Come on, let’s go over to the Philistine garrison that is opposite us.” But he did not let his father know.

Now it fell on a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor,“ Come! Let’s go over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he didn’t tell his father.

Now Saul chose for himself three thousand men of Israel, of whom two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in the hill country of Bethel, while a thousand were with Jonathan at Gibeah of Benjamin. But he sent the rest of the people away, each to his tent.

For as the Lord lives, who saves Israel, even if it is in my son Jonathan, he shall assuredly die!” But not one of all the people answered him.Then he said to all Israel,“ You shall be on one side, and I and my son Jonathan will be on the other side.” And the people said to Saul,“ Do what seems good to you.”Therefore, Saul said to the Lord, the God of Israel,“ Give a perfect lot.” And Jonathan and Saul were selected by lot, but the people were exonerated.Then Saul said,“ Cast lots between me and my son Jonathan.” And Jonathan was selected by lot.So Saul said to Jonathan,“ Tell me what you have done.” And Jonathan told him, and said,“ I did indeed taste a little honey with the end of the staff that was in my hand. Here I am, I must die!”And Saul said,“ May God do the same to me and more also, for you shall certainly die, Jonathan!”But the people said to Saul,“ Must Jonathan die, he who has brought about this great victory in Israel? Far from it! As the Lord lives, not even a hair of his head shall fall to the ground, because he has worked with God this day.” So the people rescued Jonathan and he did not die.

Now it came about, when he had finished speaking to Saul, that Jonathan committed himself to David, and Jonathan loved him as himself.And Saul took him that day and did not let him return to his father’s house.Then Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself.Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his military gear, including his sword, his bow, and his belt.

How the mighty have fallen in the midst of the battle! Jonathan is slaughtered on your high places.I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan; You have been a close friend to me. Your love for me was more wonderful Than the love of women.

David said to him,“ How did things go? Please tell me.” And he said,“ The people have fled from the battle, and many of the people also have fallen and are dead; and Saul and his son Jonathan are also dead.”Then David said to the young man who told him,“ How do you know that Saul and his son Jonathan are dead?”

So it came about on the day of battle that neither sword nor spear was found in the hands of any of the people who were with Saul and Jonathan, but they were found with Saul and his son Jonathan.

And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon him, so that he tore it apart as one tears apart a young goat, though he had nothing in his hand; but he did not tell his father or mother what he had done.

Do not trust in a neighbor; Do not have confidence in a close friend. Guard your lips From her who lies in your arms.

Then Gideon took ten men from his servants and did as the Lord had spoken to him; and because he was too afraid of his father’s household and the men of the city to do it by day, he did it by night.
