One day Jonathan son of Saul said to his young armor- bearer,“ Come, let’s go over to the Philistine outpost on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

One day Jonathan, the son of Saul, spoke to the young man carrying his armor.“ Come on,” he said.“ Let’s go over to the Philistine army camp on the other side of the pass.” But he didn’t tell his father about it.

One day Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who carried his armor,“ Come, let us go over to the Philistine garrison on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

One day Jonathan said to his armor bearer,“ Come on, let’s go over to where the Philistines have their outpost.” But Jonathan did not tell his father what he was doing.

That same day Saul’s son Jonathan said to the attendant who carried his weapons,“ Come on, let’s cross over to the Philistine garrison on the other side.” However, he did not tell his father.

Now the day came that Jonathan, the son of Saul, said to the young man who was carrying his armor,“ Come, and let’s cross over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

Now it happened one day that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor,“ Come, let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

Now it fell upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armor, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that is on yonder side. But he told not his father.

Now it fell on a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor,“ Come! Let’s go over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he didn’t tell his father.

掃羅就從以色列中揀選了三千人：二千跟從掃羅在密抹和伯特利山；一千跟從約拿單在便雅憫基比亞；其餘的人、掃羅都打發各回各家而去。

我指着那拯救以色列的永活永恆主來起誓，即使是我兒子約拿單，他也必須死。』眾民中沒有一個人回答他。掃羅對以色列眾人說：『你們過去在一邊，我和我兒子約拿單過來在一邊』；人民對掃羅說：『你看怎麼好，就怎麼行吧。』掃羅說：『永恆主以色列的上帝啊，你今天為甚麼不回答你僕人呢？這罪孽如果是在我或我兒子約拿單，永恆主以色列的上帝啊，求你給「烏陵」吧；但這罪孽如果是在你人民以色列，那麼、永恆主以色列的上帝啊，求你給「土明」吧。』於是約拿單和掃羅被拈着；人民就出脫無事了。掃羅說：『在我和我兒子約拿單之間、你們再給拈下來吧』；約拿單就被拈着了。掃羅對約拿單說：『告訴我，你幹了甚麼事了？』約拿單告訴掃羅說：『我真地用我手中的杖頭蘸了一點蜜嘗一嘗；看哪，我在這裏；我準備死。』掃羅說：『約拿單哪，你必須死；若不然，願上帝這樣懲罰，並且加倍地懲罰。』人民對掃羅說：『難道約拿單這位在以色列中施行這麼大的拯救的、必須死麼？絕對不可。我們指着永活的永恆主來起誓，連他一根頭髮也不可落地，因為他今天和上帝一同作事。』這樣；人民就贖救了約拿單免致死亡。

大衛對掃羅說完了話，約拿單的心和大衛的心就連結在一起；約拿單愛大衛、如同愛自己的性命。就在那一天、掃羅就把大衛收下來，不讓他回他父親家裏。約拿單和大衛結盟，因為約拿單愛大衛如同愛自己的性命。約拿單把身上的外袍脫下來、給了大衛，連他的戰衣、以及刀、弓、和腰帶、也都給了他。

『英雄怎麼竟在戰場中仆倒啊！『約拿單在你的山丘上被刺死。我的哥哥約拿單哪，我為你悲痛；你非常令我喜悅；你愛我的情很奇妙，勝過婦女的愛情。

大衛又問他說：『事情怎麼樣了？請告訴我。』他說：『民眾從戰場上逃跑，也有許多人仆倒死亡，掃羅和他兒子約拿單也死了。』大衛問向他報信的青年人說：『你怎麼知道掃羅和他兒子約拿單死了呢？』

所以當爭戰的日子、跟隨掃羅和約拿單的人、沒有一個手裏有刀有矛的；惟獨掃羅和他兒子約拿單就有。

永恆主的靈大大激動了參孫，參孫便將獅子撕裂，像人撕裂山羊羔一樣，赤手空拳，也沒有將他所作的告訴父母。

不要信靠你的同伴，不要信任你的友人；要守住你的嘴脣，別向躺在你懷中的妻子透露。

基甸就從他僕人中取了十個人，照永恆主所告訴他的去行；只因怕他父家和城裏的人，就不敢在白天行事，只好在夜間行了。

對僮僕說：『你們在我前頭走，我隨着你們去』；卻沒有告訴丈夫拿八。
