One day Jonathan son of Saul said to his young armor- bearer,“ Come, let’s go over to the Philistine outpost on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

One day Jonathan, the son of Saul, spoke to the young man carrying his armor.“ Come on,” he said.“ Let’s go over to the Philistine army camp on the other side of the pass.” But he didn’t tell his father about it.

One day Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who carried his armor,“ Come, let us go over to the Philistine garrison on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

One day Jonathan said to his armor bearer,“ Come on, let’s go over to where the Philistines have their outpost.” But Jonathan did not tell his father what he was doing.

Now the day came that Jonathan, the son of Saul, said to the young man who was carrying his armor,“ Come, and let’s cross over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

Now it happened one day that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor,“ Come, let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.

Now it fell upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armor, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that is on yonder side. But he told not his father.

Now it came to pass upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that[ is] on the other side. But he told not his father.

Then one day Jonathan son of Saul said to his armor bearer,“ Come on, let’s go over to the Philistine garrison that is opposite us.” But he did not let his father know.

Now it fell on a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor,“ Come! Let’s go over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he didn’t tell his father.

He chose three thousand men from Israel for himself: two thousand were with Saul at Michmash and in Bethel’s hill country, and one thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin. He sent the rest of the troops away, each to his own tent.

As surely as the LORD lives who saves Israel, even if it is because of my son Jonathan, he must die!” Not one of the troops answered him.So he said to all Israel,“ You will be on one side, and I and my son Jonathan will be on the other side.” And the troops replied,“ Do whatever you want.”So Saul said to the LORD,“ God of Israel, why have you not answered your servant today? If the unrighteousness is in me or in my son Jonathan, LORD God of Israel, give Urim; but if the fault is in your people Israel, give Thummim.” Jonathan and Saul were selected, and the troops were cleared of the charge.Then Saul said,“ Cast the lot between me and my son Jonathan,” and Jonathan was selected.Saul commanded him,“ Tell me what you did.” Jonathan told him,“ I tasted a little honey with the end of the staff I was carrying. I am ready to die!”Saul declared to him,“ May God punish me and do so severely if you do not die, Jonathan!”But the people said to Saul,“ Must Jonathan die? He accomplished such a great deliverance for Israel! No, as the LORD lives, not a hair of his head will fall to the ground, for he worked with God’s help today.” So the people redeemed Jonathan, and he did not die.

When David had finished speaking with Saul, Jonathan was bound to David in close friendship, and loved him as much as he loved himself.Saul kept David with him from that day on and did not let him return to his father’s house.Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as much as himself.Then Jonathan removed the robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his military tunic, his sword, his bow, and his belt.

How the mighty have fallen in the thick of battle! Jonathan lies slain on your heights.I grieve for you, Jonathan, my brother. You were such a friend to me. Your love for me was more wondrous than the love of women.

“ What was the outcome? Tell me,” David asked him.“ The troops fled from the battle,” he answered.“ Many of the troops have fallen and are dead. Also, Saul and his son Jonathan are dead.”David asked the young man who had brought him the report,“ How do you know Saul and his son Jonathan are dead?”

So on the day of battle not a sword or spear could be found in the hand of any of the troops who were with Saul and Jonathan; only Saul and his son Jonathan had weapons.

the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully on him, and he tore the lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. But he did not tell his father or mother what he had done.

Do not rely on a friend; don’t trust in a close companion. Seal your mouth from the woman who lies in your arms.

So Gideon took ten of his male servants and did as the LORD had told him. But because he was too afraid of his father’s family and the men of the city to do it in the daytime, he did it at night.

Then she said to her male servants,“ Go ahead of me. I will be right behind you.” But she did not tell her husband, Nabal.
