Jonathan attacked the Philistine outpost at Geba, and the Philistines heard about it. Then Saul had the trumpet blown throughout the land and said,“ Let the Hebrews hear!”

Some Philistine soldiers were stationed at Geba. Jonathan attacked them. The other Philistines heard about it. Saul announced,“ Let the Hebrew people hear about what has happened!” He had trumpets blown all through the land.

Jonathan defeated the garrison of the Philistines that was at Geba, and the Philistines heard of it. And Saul blew the trumpet throughout all the land, saying,“ Let the Hebrews hear.”

Soon after this, Jonathan attacked and defeated the garrison of Philistines at Geba. The news spread quickly among the Philistines. So Saul blew the ram’s horn throughout the land, saying,“ Hebrews, hear this! Rise up in revolt!”

全地，從迦巴直到耶路撒冷南方的臨門，要變為亞拉巴。耶路撒冷必仍居高位，就是從便雅憫門到第一門之處，又到角門，並從哈楠業樓，直到王的酒醡。

那時大衛在山寨，非利士人的防營在伯利恆。

基法‧阿摩尼、俄弗尼、迦巴，共十二座城，還有屬城的村莊；

又從便雅憫支派的地業中給了他們基遍和屬城的郊野，迦巴和屬城的郊野，

他們過了隘口，在迦巴住宿。拉瑪人戰兢；掃羅的基比亞人逃跑。

掃羅和他兒子約拿單，並跟隨他們的人，都住在便雅憫的迦巴；但非利士人安營在密抹。

於是約押吹角，眾民就站住，不再追趕以色列人，也不再打仗了。

有一日，掃羅的兒子約拿單對拿他兵器的少年人說：「我們不如過到那邊，到非利士人的防營那裏去。」但他沒有告訴父親。掃羅在基比亞的儘邊，坐在米磯崙的石榴樹下，跟隨他的約有六百人。在那裏有亞希突的兒子亞希亞，穿着以弗得。（亞希突是以迦博的哥哥，非尼哈的兒子，以利的孫子。以利從前在示羅作耶和華的祭司。）約拿單去了，百姓卻不知道。約拿單要從隘口過到非利士防營那裏去。這隘口兩邊各有一個山峯：一名播薛，一名西尼；一峯向北，與密抹相對，一峯向南，與迦巴相對。約拿單對拿兵器的少年人說：「我們不如過到未受割禮人的防營那裏去，或者耶和華為我們施展能力；因為耶和華使人得勝，不在乎人多人少。」
