“ After Jacob entered Egypt, they cried to the Lord for help, and the Lord sent Moses and Aaron, who brought your ancestors out of Egypt and settled them in this place.

“ After Jacob’s family entered Egypt, they cried out to the Lord for help. The Lord sent Moses and Aaron. They brought your people out of Egypt. They had them make their homes in this land.

When Jacob went into Egypt, and the Egyptians oppressed them, then your fathers cried out to the Lord and the Lord sent Moses and Aaron, who brought your fathers out of Egypt and made them dwell in this place.

“ When the Israelites were in Egypt and cried out to the Lord, he sent Moses and Aaron to rescue them from Egypt and to bring them into this land.

He will rejoice when he sees you.You will speak with him and tell him what to say. I will help both you and him to speak and will teach you both what to do.He will speak to the people for you. He will serve as a mouth for you, and you will serve as God to him.

After a long time, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned because of their difficult labor, they cried out, and their cry for help because of the difficult labor ascended to God.God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

and said to the Israelites,“ This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says:‘ I brought Israel out of Egypt, and I rescued you from the power of the Egyptians and all the kingdoms that were oppressing you.’

Our ancestors went down to Egypt, and we lived in Egypt many years, but the Egyptians treated us and our ancestors badly.

“ Be strong and courageous, for you will distribute the land I swore to their ancestors to give them as an inheritance.

and Jacob went down to Egypt. He and our ancestors died there,

Then Samuel said to the people,“ The LORD, who appointed Moses and Aaron and who brought your ancestors up from the land of Egypt, is a witness.

That day the LORD saved Israel from the power of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.When Israel saw the great power that the LORD used against the Egyptians, the people feared the LORD and believed in him and in his servant Moses.

On that same day the LORD brought the Israelites out of the land of Egypt according to their military divisions.

He brought them to his holy territory, to the mountain his right hand acquired.He drove out nations before them. He apportioned their inheritance by lot and settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.

Jacob left Beer-sheba. The sons of Israel took their father Jacob in the wagons Pharaoh had sent to carry him, along with their dependents and their wives.They also took their cattle and possessions they had acquired in the land of Canaan. Then Jacob and all his offspring with him came to Egypt.His sons and grandsons, his daughters and granddaughters, indeed all his offspring, he brought with him to Egypt.

He said,“ You will know that the living God is among you and that he will certainly dispossess before you the Canaanites, Hethites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites, and Jebusiteswhen the ark of the covenant of the Lord of the whole earth goes ahead of you into the Jordan.Now choose twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one man for each tribe.When the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the LORD, the Lord of the whole earth, come to rest in the Jordan’s water, its water will be cut off. The water flowing downstream will stand up in a mass.”

So because the Israelites’ cry for help has come to me, and I have also seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them,therefore, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh so that you may lead my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.”

God, we have heard with our ears— our ancestors have told us— the work you accomplished in their days, in days long ago:In order to plant them, you displaced the nations by your hand; in order to settle them, you brought disaster on the peoples.For they did not take the land by their sword— their arm did not bring them victory— but by your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable toward them.

It was this Aaron and Moses whom the LORD told,“ Bring the Israelites out of the land of Egypt according to their military divisions.”

Now the LORD had said to Aaron,“ Go and meet Moses in the wilderness.” So he went and met him at the mountain of God and kissed him.Moses told Aaron everything the LORD had sent him to say, and about all the signs he had commanded him to do.Then Moses and Aaron went and assembled all the elders of the Israelites.Aaron repeated everything the LORD had said to Moses and performed the signs before the people.The people believed, and when they heard that the LORD had paid attention to them and that he had seen their misery, they knelt low and worshiped.

He gave them the lands of the nations, and they inherited what other peoples had worked for.

“ Moses my servant is dead. Now you and all the people prepare to cross over the Jordan to the land I am giving the Israelites.I have given you every place where the sole of your foot treads, just as I promised Moses.Your territory will be from the wilderness and Lebanon to the great river, the Euphrates River— all the land of the Hittites— and west to the Mediterranean Sea.
