Be strong and of good courage; for thou shalt cause this people to inherit the land which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

And Jacob went down into Egypt; and he died, himself and our fathers;

Thus Jehovah saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea- shore.And Israel saw the great work which Jehovah did upon the Egyptians, and the people feared Jehovah: and they believed in Jehovah, and in his servant Moses.

And it came to pass the selfsame day, that Jehovah did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their hosts.

And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary, To this mountain, which his right hand had gotten.He drove out the nations also before them, And allotted them for an inheritance by line, And made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.

And Jacob rose up from Beer- sheba: and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him:his sons, and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters, and his sons’ daughters, and all his seed brought he with him into Egypt.

And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Hivite, and the Perizzite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Jebusite.Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passeth over before you into the Jordan.Now therefore take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, for every tribe a man.And it shall come to pass, when the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of Jehovah, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, that the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off, even the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand in one heap.

And now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: moreover I have seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

We have heard with our ears, O God, Our fathers have told us, What work thou didst in their days, In the days of old.Thou didst drive out the nations with thy hand; But them thou didst plant: Thou didst afflict the peoples; But them thou didst spread abroad.For they gat not the land in possession by their own sword, Neither did their own arm save them; But thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, Because thou wast favorable unto them.

These are that Aaron and Moses, to whom Jehovah said, Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their hosts.

And Jehovah said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mountain of God, and kissed him.And Moses told Aaron all the words of Jehovah wherewith he had sent him, and all the signs wherewith he had charged him.And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:and Aaron spake all the words which Jehovah had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.And the people believed: and when they heard that Jehovah had visited the children of Israel, and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.

And he gave them the lands of the nations; And they took the labor of the peoples in possession:

Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, to you have I given it, as I spake unto Moses.From the wilderness, and this Lebanon, even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border.
