The LORD will not abandon his people because he wants to uphold his great reputation. The LORD was pleased to make you his own people.

For the sake of his great name the Lord will not reject his people, because the Lord was pleased to make you his own.

But the Lord will be true to his great name. He won’t turn his back on his people. That’s because he was pleased to make you his own people.

For the Lord will not forsake his people, for his great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you a people for himself.

The Lord will not abandon his people, because that would dishonor his great name. For it has pleased the Lord to make you his very own people.

It is not because you were more numerous than all the other peoples that the LORD favored and chose you– for in fact you were the least numerous of all peoples.Rather it is because of his love for you and his faithfulness to the promise he solemnly vowed to your ancestors that the LORD brought you out with great power, redeeming you from the place of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

For I am sure of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

When the Canaanites and all who live in the land hear about this, they will turn against us and destroy the very memory of us from the earth. What will you do to protect your great reputation?”

For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.

For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. He has chosen you to be his people, prized above all others on the face of the earth.

For the Lord will not reject us forever.Though he causes us grief, he then has compassion on us according to the abundance of his loyal kindness.

For the honor of your name, do not treat Jerusalem with contempt. Do not treat with disdain the place where your glorious throne sits. Be mindful of your covenant with us. Do not break it!

so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, would be to the praise of his glory.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

I, I am the one who blots out your rebellious deeds for my sake; your sins I do not remember.

Certainly the LORD does not forsake his people; he does not abandon the nation that belongs to him.

I will lead the blind along an unfamiliar way; I will guide them down paths they have never traveled. I will turn the darkness in front of them into light, and level out the rough ground. This is what I will do for them. I will not abandon them.

“ I said,‘ I want to cut them in pieces. I want to make people forget they ever existed.But I fear the reaction of their enemies, for their adversaries would misunderstand and say,“ Our power is great, and the LORD has not done all this!”’

“ You have surely noticed what these people are saying, haven’t you? They are saying,‘ The LORD has rejected the two families of Israel and Judah that he chose.’ So they have little regard that my people will ever again be a nation.But I, the LORD, make the following promise: I have made a covenant governing the coming of day and night. I have established the fixed laws governing heaven and earth.Just as surely as I have done this, so surely will I never reject the descendants of Jacob. Nor will I ever refuse to choose one of my servant David’s descendants to rule over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Indeed, I will restore them and show mercy to them.”

I will shield this city and rescue it for the sake of my reputation and because of my promise to David my servant.”’”

At that time my anger will erupt against them and I will abandon them and hide my face from them until they are devoured. Many disasters and distresses will overcome them so that they will say at that time,‘ Have not these disasters overcome us because our God is not among us?’

just as it is written:“ Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”What shall we say then? Is there injustice with God? Absolutely not!For he says to Moses:“ I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”So then, it does not depend on human desire or exertion, but on God who shows mercy.For the scripture says to Pharaoh:“ For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may demonstrate my power in you, and that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.”So then, God has mercy on whom he chooses to have mercy, and he hardens whom he chooses to harden.

For who concedes you any superiority? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as though you did not?
