Do not turn away after useless idols. They can do you no good, nor can they rescue you, because they are useless.

Don’t turn away and worship statues of gods. They are useless. They can’t do you any good. They can’t save you either. They are completely useless.

And do not turn aside after empty things that cannot profit or deliver, for they are empty.

Don’t go back to worshiping worthless idols that cannot help or rescue you— they are totally useless!

Indeed, you must not turn aside, for then you would go after useless things which cannot benefit or save, because they are useless.

他們把神像抬起，扛在肩上，又把它安置就位；它就在那裡呆立不動。儘管人向它呼求，它也不回應，更不能拯救人脫離患難。

關於吃祭過偶像的食物，我們知道「世界上的偶像是虛無的」，也知道「除了神一位之外，沒有別的神。」

看哪，它們全是虛空，它們的作為是虛無，它們的鑄像是風，都是空虛！

告訴我們後來的事，好讓我們知道你們是神！你們或好或歹做一些事，讓我們一同驚奇觀看吧！看哪，你們連無有都算不上，你們的作為連虛無也夠不上；那選擇你們的是可憎惡的！

塑造偶像的全都虛空，他們所喜愛的毫無益處；為偶像本身作見證的，一無所見，一無所知，他們都必蒙羞。誰塑造了神像、鑄造了毫無益處的偶像呢？

列國的偶像是銀的、金的，是人手所造的：它們有嘴卻不能說，有眼卻不能看；有耳卻不能聽，有鼻卻不能聞；有手卻不能摸，有腳卻不能走，也不能用喉嚨發出聲音。那些造它們的、所有依靠它們的，都會像它們那樣。

那些信奉虛妄假神的人，他們背棄了對你的忠誠；
