Do not turn away after useless idols. They can do you no good, nor can they rescue you, because they are useless.

Don’t turn away and worship statues of gods. They are useless. They can’t do you any good. They can’t save you either. They are completely useless.

And do not turn aside after empty things that cannot profit or deliver, for they are empty.

Don’t go back to worshiping worthless idols that cannot help or rescue you— they are totally useless!

Indeed, you must not turn aside, for then you would go after useless things which cannot benefit or save, because they are useless.

他们把神像抬起，扛在肩上，又把它安置就位；它就在那里呆立不动。尽管人向它呼求，它也不回应，更不能救人脱离患难。

关于吃祭过偶像的食物，我们知道“世界上的偶像是虚无的”，也知道“除了神一位之外，没有别的神。”

“从列国逃脱的人哪，聚集而来，一同近前吧——他们抬着木头雕刻的偶像，向不能拯救人的神祷告，真是无知

看哪，它们全是虚空，它们的作为是虚无，它们的铸像是风，都是空虚！

告诉我们后来的事，好让我们知道你们是神！你们或好或歹做一些事，让我们一同惊奇观看吧！看哪，你们连无有都算不上，你们的作为连虚无也够不上；那选择你们的是可憎恶的！

塑造偶像的全都虚空，他们所喜爱的毫无益处；为偶像本身作见证的，一无所见，一无所知，他们都必蒙羞。谁塑造了神像、铸造了毫无益处的偶像呢？

列国的偶像是银的、金的，是人手所做的：它们有嘴却不能说，有眼却不能看；有耳却不能听，有鼻却不能闻；有手却不能摸，有脚却不能走，也不能用喉咙发出声音。那些造它们的、所有依靠它们的，都会像它们那样。

那些信奉虚妄假神的人，他们背弃了对你的忠诚；
