以色列人看見耶和華向埃及人所施展的大能，百姓就敬畏耶和華，並且信服耶和華和他的僕人摩西。

於是，猶大和便雅憫眾人三日之內都聚集在耶路撒冷。那時是九月，那月的二十日，眾百姓坐在神殿前的廣場，因這事，又因下大雨，就都戰抖。

那時，他們才信他的話，歌唱讚美他。很快地，他們就忘了他的作為，不仰望他的指引，

若有人想要害他們，就有火從他們口中噴出來，燒滅仇敵；凡想要害他們的都必須這樣被殺。這二人有權柄關閉天空，使他們說預言的日子不下雨；又有權柄使水變為血，並且能隨時隨意用各樣的災害擊打大地。

摩西向天伸杖，耶和華就打雷下雹，有火降到地上；耶和華下雹在埃及地上。那時，有雹，也有火在雹中閃爍，極其嚴重；自從埃及立國以來，全地沒有像這樣的。在埃及全地，冰雹擊打田間所有的人和牲畜，擊打一切的菜蔬，也打壞了田間一切的樹木。
