Then Samuel called on the Lord, and that same day the Lord sent thunder and rain. So all the people stood in awe of the Lord and of Samuel.

以色列人看見耶和華向埃及人所顯大能的手，就敬畏耶和華，又信服耶和華和他的僕人摩西。

於是猶大和便雅憫眾人，三日之內都在耶路撒冷聚集，那時是九月二十日，眾人坐在神殿的廣場上；因為這事，又因為天下大雨的緣故，大家就都戰慄發抖。

那時他們才相信他的話，唱歌讚美他。可是他們很快就忘記了他的作為，不仰望他的意旨，

如果有人想要傷害他們，就有火從他們口中出來，吞滅他們的仇敵。凡是想要傷害他們的，都必這樣被殺。他們有權柄在他們傳道的日子叫天閉塞不下雨，又有權柄掌管眾水，使水變成血，並且有權柄可以隨時隨意用各樣災難擊打全地。

摩西把手杖向天一伸，耶和華就打雷（“打雷”原文作“神的聲音”）下雹，有火落在地上；耶和華使冰雹降在埃及地上。那時有了冰雹，冰雹與火混雜在一起，十分嚴重；埃及全地自從建國以來，未曾有過這樣的冰雹。在埃及全地，冰雹把田間的一切，連人和牲畜都擊打了；冰雹又把田間的一切蔬菜擊打了，也把田間的一切樹木打斷了。
