Then Samuel called on the Lord, and that same day the Lord sent thunder and rain. So all the people stood in awe of the Lord and of Samuel.

以色列人看见耶和华向埃及人所显大能的手，就敬畏耶和华，又信服耶和华和他的仆人摩西。

于是犹大和便雅悯众人，三日之内都在耶路撒冷聚集，那时是九月二十日，众人坐在神殿的广场上；因为这事，又因为天下大雨的缘故，大家就都战栗发抖。

那时他们才相信他的话，唱歌赞美他。可是他们很快就忘记了他的作为，不仰望他的意旨，

如果有人想要伤害他们，就有火从他们口中出来，吞灭他们的仇敌。凡是想要伤害他们的，都必这样被杀。他们有权柄在他们传道的日子叫天闭塞不下雨，又有权柄掌管众水，使水变成血，并且有权柄可以随时随意用各样灾难击打全地。

摩西把手杖向天一伸，耶和华就打雷（“打雷”原文作“神的声音”）下雹，有火落在地上；耶和华使冰雹降在埃及地上。那时有了冰雹，冰雹与火混杂在一起，十分严重；埃及全地自从建国以来，未曾有过这样的冰雹。在埃及全地，冰雹把田间的一切，连人和牲畜都击打了；冰雹又把田间的一切蔬菜击打了，也把田间的一切树木打断了。
