So all the people went to Gilgal and made Saul king in the presence of the Lord. There they sacrificed fellowship offerings before the Lord, and Saul and all the Israelites held a great celebration.

你要在我以先下到吉甲，看吧，我也要下到你那裏去獻上燔祭，並獻平安祭；你要等候七天，等我到了你那裏，給你知道你所當行的事。』

撒母耳將人民招集到米斯巴永恆主那裏；

如今呢、你們竟拿自己所矜誇的來誇口啊！這樣的誇口都是惡的。

又打發以色列人中的青年人去獻上燔祭，並向永恆主獻公牛為平安祭。

第二天他們向永恆主獻祭，也向永恆主獻上燔祭；那一天共獻了公牛一千隻、公綿羊一千隻、羊羔一千隻、以及和這些祭牲同獻的奠祭、並為以色列眾人宰獻的許多祭。那一天他們在永恆主面前喫喝，大大歡樂。他們第二次立了大衛的兒子所羅門為王，用油膏他歸永恆主為人君，也膏撒督歸永恆主為祭司。於是所羅門坐永恆主所賜的位、接替他父親大衛做王，諸事順利；以色列眾人都聽從他。眾首領和勇士、連大衛的眾兒子都舉手起誓要效忠於所羅門王之下。

看哪，現在你們所揀選所求要的王在這裏呢；看哪，永恆主已經立了一個王來管理你們。你們若敬畏永恆主，事奉他，聽他的聲音，不違背他所吩咐的，並且不但你們、連那管理你們、的王、也都跟從着永恆主你們的上帝，那就好了。倘若你們不聽永恆主的聲音，又違背他所吩咐的，那麼永恆主的手就要攻擊你們和你們的王了。

人民竟不肯聽撒母耳的話；他們說：『不，我們要有一個王來管理我們，

今日不是收割麥子的時候麼？我要呼求永恆主打雷下雨，那麼你們就可以知道，可以看出：你們所行的壞事——那求立王的事——在永恆主看來、是多麼大的壞事。』

論到王和首領你曾求說：『將王和首領賜給我吧！』那麼你的王在哪裏，好拯救你呢？你的首領都在哪裏，好保衛你呢？我氣忿忿地將王賜了你，又怒烘烘地給廢去。
