你當在我以先下到吉甲，我也必下到那裏獻燔祭和平安祭。你要等候七日，等我到了那裏，指示你當行的事。」

撒母耳將百姓招聚到米斯巴耶和華那裏，

現今你們竟以張狂誇口；凡這樣誇口都是惡的。

次日，他們向耶和華獻平安祭和燔祭，就是獻公牛一千隻，公綿羊一千隻，羊羔一千隻，並同獻的奠祭；又為以色列眾人獻許多的祭。那日，他們在耶和華面前吃喝，大大歡樂。他們奉耶和華的命再膏大衛的兒子所羅門作王，又膏撒督作祭司。於是所羅門坐在耶和華所賜的位上，接續他父親大衛作王，萬事亨通；以色列眾人也都聽從他。眾首領和勇士，並大衛王的眾子，都順服所羅門王。

現在，你們所求所選的王在這裏。看哪，耶和華已經為你們立王了。你們若敬畏耶和華，事奉他，聽從他的話，不違背他的命令，你們和治理你們的王也都順從耶和華－你們的神就好了。倘若不聽從耶和華的話，違背他的命令，耶和華的手必攻擊你們，像從前攻擊你們列祖一樣。

百姓竟不肯聽撒母耳的話，說：「不然！我們定要一個王治理我們，

這不是割麥子的時候嗎？我求告耶和華，他必打雷降雨，使你們又知道又看出，你們求立王的事是在耶和華面前犯大罪了。」

你曾求我說：給我立王和首領。現在你的王在哪裏呢？治理你的在哪裏呢？讓他在你所有的城中拯救你吧！我在怒氣中將王賜你，又在烈怒中將王廢去。
