So all the people went to Gilgal and made Saul king in the presence of the Lord. There they sacrificed fellowship offerings before the Lord, and Saul and all the Israelites held a great celebration.

你要在我以先下到吉甲去，我也要下到你那裡去獻燔祭和平安祭。你要等候七天，等我到了你那裡，指示你所當行的。”

撒母耳召集眾民到米斯巴耶和華那裡，

但現在你們竟然張狂自誇；這一切自誇，都是邪惡的。

又派了以色列人中的青年人去獻燔祭，又向耶和華殺牛獻為平安祭。

第二天，他們向耶和華獻祭，他們向耶和華獻上燔祭；那一天他們獻了公牛一千頭、公綿羊一千隻、羊羔一千隻，以及同獻的奠祭，又為以色列眾人獻了許多祭。那一天，他們十分喜樂地在耶和華面前吃喝。他們再次表示擁立大衛的兒子所羅門作王，膏他為耶和華作君王，又膏撒督作祭司。於是所羅門坐在耶和華所賜的位上，接續他父親大衛作王；他凡事亨通，以色列眾人都聽從他。眾領袖和勇士，以及大衛王的眾子，都順服所羅門王。

現在，你們所揀選、所要求的王在這裡。看哪！耶和華已經立了一個王統治你們。如果你們敬畏耶和華，事奉他，聽從他的話，不違背他的命令，你們和統治你們的王就必跟從耶和華你們的神。但是，如果你們不聽從耶和華的話，違背他的命令，耶和華的手就必攻擊你們，好像攻擊你們的列祖一樣（“好像攻擊你們的列祖一樣”直譯是“和攻擊你們的列祖”；《七十士譯本》作“和攻擊你們的王”）。

眾民竟不肯聽從撒母耳的話，說：“不，我們要一個王治理我們，

現今不是收割麥子的時候嗎？我要向耶和華呼求，他就會打雷降雨，你們就可以知道，又可以看見，你們為自己要求立王的事，在耶和華看來，是行了極大的惡事。”

現在你的王在哪裡？讓他拯救你吧！你所有的領袖在哪裡？讓他們治理你吧！因為論到他們你曾請求：‘把王和領袖賜給我。’我在忿怒中把王賜給你，又在烈怒中把他廢去。
