But some scoundrels said,“ How can this fellow save us?” They despised him and brought him no gifts. But Saul kept silent.

有些匪徒從你中間出來，把本城的居民引離，說：‘我們去事奉別的神吧。’那些神是你們素來不認識的；

他們各人都帶著自己的貢物而來，就是銀器、金器、衣裳、軍械、香料、馬和騾等，年年都是這樣。

以利的兩個兒子是無賴，不尊重耶和華，

因此，耶和華使他統治的國穩固；猶大各地都給他進貢，所以約沙法的財富很多，極有尊榮。

眾人都默不作聲，一句話也沒有回答他，因為王的吩咐說：“不要回答他。”

他施和海島的列王都必帶來禮物，示巴和西巴的列王都必獻上貢物。

眾民對撒母耳說：“那說‘掃羅怎能作我們的王’的是誰呢？把那些人交出來，我們好殺死他們。”

有些無賴匪徒結集跟從他，欺負所羅門的兒子羅波安；那時羅波安還年幼，心裡驚怯，所以不能抵擋他們。

他們拒絕了這位摩西，說：‘誰立了你作領袖和審判官呢？’但神藉著在荊棘中向他顯現的使者的手，派他作領袖和救贖者。

“你們頸項剛硬、心和耳都未受割禮的人哪！你們時常抗拒聖靈，你們的祖先怎樣，你們也怎樣。有哪一個先知，你們的祖先不迫害呢？你們殺了那些預先宣告那義者要來的人，現在又把那義者出賣了，殺害了。

在那裡恰巧有一個流氓名叫示巴，是便雅憫人比基利的兒子。他吹號角，說：“我們在大衛的身上無分，在耶西的兒子身上無干，以色列人哪！各回自己的帳棚去吧！”

至於我，像個聾子，不能聽見；像個啞巴，不能開口。

祭司長和長老控告他的時候，他卻不回答。彼拉多又問他：“他們作證指控你這麼多的事，你沒有聽見嗎？”耶穌一句話也不回答他，令總督非常驚奇。

他又擊敗摩押人，使他們躺在地上，用繩子量他們，把量兩繩的殺死，讓量一繩的存活。這樣，摩押人就臣服大衛，給他進貢。
