「你到了耶和華－你神所賜你的地，得了那地居住在其中的時候，若說：『我要立王治理我，像我四圍所有的國家一樣』，你一定要立耶和華－你神所揀選的人為你的王。要從你弟兄中立一人為你的王，不可立你弟兄之外的外邦人治理你。只是王不可為自己加添馬匹，也不可為加添馬匹使百姓回埃及去，因耶和華曾對你們說：『不可再回那條路去。』王不可為自己多立妃嬪，免得他的心偏離；也不可為自己多積金銀。他登了國度的王位之後，要在利未家的祭司面前，將這律法書為自己抄寫一份在書卷上。這書要存在他那裏，他一生的年日要誦讀，好使他學習敬畏耶和華－他的神，謹守遵行這律法書上的一切話和這些律例，免得他的心向弟兄高傲，偏離了這誡命，或向右或向左。這樣，他和他的子孫就可以長久作王治理以色列。」

你要提醒眾人，叫他們順服執政的、掌權的，要服從，預備行各樣善事。

主耶和華如此說：「王若將禮物賜給他的任何一個兒子，這就成為兒子的產業，可留給子孫，是他們所承受的地業。倘若王將他產業的一份賜給他的一個臣僕，這就成為他臣僕的產業，直到自由之年，然後地要歸還王；王的產業終究要歸自己的兒子。王不可奪取百姓的產業，以致趕逐他們離開自己的地業；他應該從自己的地業中將產業賜給子孫，免得我的子民離開自己的地業，四散各處。」

在上有權柄的，人人要順服，因為沒有權柄不是來自神的。掌權的都是神所立的。所以，抗拒掌權的就是抗拒神所立的；抗拒的人必自招審判。作官的原不是要使行善的懼怕，而是要使作惡的懼怕。你願意不懼怕掌權的嗎？只要行善，你就可得他的稱讚；因為他是神的用人，是與你有益的。你若作惡，就該懼怕，因為他不是徒然佩劍；他是神的用人，為神的憤怒，報應作惡的。所以，你們必須順服，不但是因神的憤怒，也是因着良心。你們納糧也為這個緣故，因他們是神的僕役，專管這事。凡人所當得的，就給他。當得糧的，給他納糧；當得稅的，給他上稅；當懼怕的，懼怕他；當恭敬的，恭敬他。

你們為主的緣故要順服人的一切制度，或是在上的君王，或是君王所派懲惡賞善的官員。

為君王和一切在位的，也要如此，使我們能夠敬虔端正地過平穩寧靜的生活。

主耶和華如此說：「以色列的王啊，你們夠了吧！要除掉殘暴和搶奪的事，行公平和公義，不可再勒索我的百姓。這是主耶和華說的。「你們要用公道的天平、公道的伊法、公道的罷特。
