掃羅的父親基士丟失了幾匹母驢，他就吩咐兒子掃羅說：「起來，帶一個僕人去尋找驢子。」掃羅走過以法蓮山區，又過沙利沙地，都沒有找着。他們走過沙琳地，驢不在那裏，又走過便雅憫地，也沒有找到。到了蘇弗地，掃羅對跟隨他的僕人說：「我們不如回去，免得我父親不為驢掛慮，反為我們擔憂。」

拉結死了，葬在往以法他的路旁；以法他就是伯利恆。雅各在她的墳上立了一塊碑，就是拉結的墓碑，到今日還在。

洗拉、以利弗、耶布斯，耶布斯就是耶路撒冷，基比亞、基列，共十四座城，以及所屬的村莊。這是便雅憫人按着宗族所得的地業。

掃羅對他的叔叔說：「他明明告訴我們，驢子已經找到了。」至於撒母耳所說君王的事，掃羅沒有告訴叔叔。

耶和華如此說：「在拉瑪聽見號咷痛哭的聲音，是拉結哭她兒女，不肯因她兒女受安慰，因為他們都不在了。」
