爾等若果因基督之名而受唾罵、福莫大焉！蓋誠能如此、則光榮大能之聖神、天主之聖神、以爾為安宅矣。

If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

Suppose people say bad things about you because you believe in Christ. Then you are blessed, because God’s Spirit rests on you. He is the Spirit of glory.

Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you[ from their company], and shall reproach[ you], and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.

Blessed are ye, when[ men] shall revile you, and persecute[ you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Blessed[ is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.

For this[ is] thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.For what glory[ is it], if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer[ for it], ye take it patiently, this[ is] acceptable with God.

But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O LORD; wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.

Happy[ are] thy men, happy[ are] these thy servants, which stand continually before thee,[ and] that hear thy wisdom.

Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses’ disciples.

Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

That he should still live for ever,[ and] not see corruption.

Blessed[ is he whose] transgression[ is] forgiven,[ whose] sin[ is] covered.Blessed[ is] the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit[ there is] no guile.

And when the sons of the prophets which[ were] to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe( because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of[ this] calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of[ his] goodness, and the work of faith with power:That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?

Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.Nicodemus saith unto them,( he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)Doth our law judge[ any] man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

And they glorified God in me.

Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with[ them] to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of[ you]:Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
