Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

為夫者亦宜循理、與婦同居、視猶弱器、共承維生之恩、爾其尊之、免爾之祈禱有所阻也、○

婦雖荏弱、亦當相敬、夫而知理、宜同室居、共得恩寵、以享永生、毋俾爾祈禱有所阻、

夫歟、爾亦當循理與婦同居、且當敬之、因彼為荏弱之器、亦與爾共得永生之恩者、使爾祈禱、無所阻也、○

為夫者亦應體恤厥婦、憐其孱弱、平居待之以禮尊重女性。當念彼乃與爾伉儷敵體、共承永生之恩澤者也。且惟如此、則爾等祈禱方能專心、而無阻礙耳。

Husbands, consider the needs of your wives. They are weaker than you. So treat them with respect. Honor them as those who will share with you the gracious gift of life. Then nothing will stand in the way of your prayers.

Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.

However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked,“ Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?”“ Haven’t you read,” he replied,“ that at the beginning the Creator‘ made them male and female,’and said,‘ For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”“ Why then,” they asked,“ did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?”Jesus replied,“ Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for herto make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

You ask,“ Why?” It is because the Lord is the witness between you and the wife of your youth. You have been unfaithful to her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.“ The man who hates and divorces his wife,” says the Lord, the God of Israel,“ does violence to the one he should protect,” says the Lord Almighty. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful.

Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well.Should your springs overflow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares?Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers.May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.A loving doe, a graceful deer— may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be intoxicated with her love.

“ Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.

that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable,

The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.

“ Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you,leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.

so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.

On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty,while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it,

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.”

Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
