因為古時仰賴神的聖潔婦人正是以此為妝飾，順服自己的丈夫，

維昔淑女、上帝是賴、以此自飾、亦順其夫、

古昔仰賴天主之聖女、亦以此自飾、而服於其夫、

在昔懿德之婦、亦莫不以此自飾、仰望天主、敬事其夫。

For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands,

照樣，勸年老的婦女行為要敬虔，不說讒言，不被酒奴役，用善道教導人，好提醒年輕的婦女愛丈夫愛兒女，

那無依無靠獨居的寡婦，她們仰望神，晝夜不住地祈求禱告。

因為他們看見了你們敬畏和純潔的生活。不要單注重外表的裝飾，就如鬈頭髮、戴金飾、穿華麗衣服；卻要在裡面存著溫柔安靜的心靈，作不能毀壞的裝飾，這在神面前是極寶貴的。

還有幾個蒙了醫治、脫離污鬼與疾病的婦女，其中有稱為抹大拉的馬利亞，曾有七個鬼從她身上趕出來；有希律的管家古撒的妻子約亞拿，又有蘇珊娜，和許多別的婦女，她們都用自己的財物供給耶穌和門徒。

在約帕有一個女門徒，名叫戴比莎，希臘話叫多加；她為人樂善好施。

就寡居了，直到八十四歲（“就寡居了，直到八十四歲”或譯：“就寡居了八十四年”）。她沒有離開過聖殿，以禁食和禱告晝夜事奉主。

艷麗是虛假的，美容是虛浮的；唯有敬畏耶和華的婦女，必得稱讚。

哈拿禱告說：“我的心因耶和華喜樂，我的角因耶和華高舉，我的口向仇敵大大誇耀，因為我以你的救恩為樂。

並且要有善行的見證：就如養育兒女，接待客旅，替聖徒洗腳，救濟困苦的人，盡力行各樣的善事等。

這些人和幾個婦女，耶穌的母親馬利亞，還有他的兄弟們，都在一起，同心地恆切禱告。

然而女人要是常常存著信心、愛心、聖潔自律，在她生育的事上必定得救。

卻要以善行作裝飾，這才配稱為敬畏神的女人。

因著信，甚至撒拉，她雖然過了生育的年齡，還是能夠懷孕，因為她認為那應許她的是信實的。

沒有人會說：‘你撇下你的孤兒，我必使他們存活；你的寡婦可以倚靠我。’”

有才德的妻子，誰能得著呢？她的價值遠勝過紅寶石。
