Whose adorning let it not be that outward[ adorning] of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.

Fancy hairstyles don’t make you beautiful. Wearing gold jewelry or fine clothes doesn’t make you beautiful.

Do not let your adorning be external— the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear—

Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes.

Don’t let your beauty consist of outward things like elaborate hairstyles and wearing gold jewelry or fine clothes,

Your adornment must not be merely the external— braiding the hair, wearing gold jewelry, or putting on apparel;

Do not let your adornment be merely outward— arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel—

Whose adorning let it not be the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on apparel;

Your beauty should not consist of outward things like elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold ornaments or fine clothes.

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;But( which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of[ their] tinkling ornaments[ about their feet], and[ their] cauls, and[ their] round tires like the moon,The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,The rings, and nose jewels,The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.And it shall come to pass,[ that] instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth;[ and] burning instead of beauty.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what[ is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

And[ when] thou[ art] spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair;[ thy] lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.

The aged women likewise, that[ they be] in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,[ To be] discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine[ shewing] uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.[ Exhort] servants to be obedient unto their own masters,[ and] to please[ them] well in all[ things]; not answering again;Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave[ them] to Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things.

Can a maid forget her ornaments,[ or] a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.

And he made the laver[ of] brass, and the foot of it[ of] brass, of the lookingglasses of[ the women] assembling, which assembled[ at] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard[ of it]; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window.

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh[ himself] with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth[ herself] with her jewels.

Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on[ her] royal[ apparel], and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, over against the king’s house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.

Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing hearted,[ and] brought bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every man that offered[ offered] an offering of gold unto the LORD.

And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which[ are] in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring[ them] unto me.
