When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

People shouted at him and made fun of him. But he didn’t do the same thing back to them. When he suffered, he didn’t say he would make them suffer. Instead, he trusted in the God who judges fairly.

When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.

Therefore, those also who suffer according to the will of God are to entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.

For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.

And now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant it to Your bond servants to speak Your word with all confidence,

You have seen it, for You have looked at harm and provocation to take it into Your hand. The unfortunate commits himself to You; You have been the helper of the orphan.

in the future there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.

For this reason I also suffer these things; but I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that He is able to protect what I have entrusted to Him until that day.

And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said,“ Father, into Your hands I entrust My spirit.” And having said this, He died.

Now the passage of Scripture which he was reading was this:“ He was led like a sheep to slaughter; And like a lamb that is silent before its shearer, So He does not open His mouth.In humiliation His justice was taken away; Who will describe His generation? For His life is taken away from the earth.”The eunuch answered Philip and said,“ Please tell me, of whom does the prophet say this? Of himself, or of someone else?”Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture he preached Jesus to him.

Into Your hand I entrust my spirit; You have redeemed me, Lord, God of truth.

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.

Those who seek my life lay snares for me; And those who seek to injure me have threatened destruction, And they plot deception all day long.But I, like a person who is deaf, do not hear; And I am like a person who cannot speak, who does not open his mouth.Yes, I am like a person who does not hear, And in whose mouth are no arguments.

But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

Now Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,

And masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.

The Jews answered and said to Him,“ Do we not rightly say that You are a Samaritan, and You have a demon?”Jesus answered,“ I do not have a demon; on the contrary, I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me.

not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you would inherit a blessing.

[ But Jesus was saying,“ Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”] And they cast lots, dividing His garments among themselves.And the people stood by, watching. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying,“ He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One.”The soldiers also ridiculed Him, coming up to Him, offering Him sour wine,and saying,“ If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!”Now there was also an inscription above Him,“ THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying,“ Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!”

And he questioned Him at some length; but He offered him no answer at all.

Before the Lord, for He is coming, For He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness, And the peoples in His faithfulness.

Far be it from You to do such a thing, to kill the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous and the wicked are treated alike. Far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth deal justly?”

and they blindfolded Him and repeatedly asked Him, saying,“ Prophesy, who is the one who hit You?”And they were saying many other things against Him, blaspheming.

This is a plain indication of God’s righteous judgment so that you will be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you indeed are suffering.

because He has set a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all people by raising Him from the dead.”

And those passing by were speaking abusively to Him, shaking their heads,and saying,“ You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes and elders, were mocking Him and saying,“ He saved others; He cannot save Himself! He is the King of Israel; let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe in Him.He has trusted in God; let God rescue Him now, if He takes pleasure in Him; for He said,‘ I am the Son of God.’ ”And the rebels who had been crucified with Him were also insulting Him in the same way.

and he entered the Praetorium again and* said to Jesus,“ Where are You from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.So Pilate* said to Him,“ Are you not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You, and I have authority to crucify You?”Jesus answered him,“ You would have no authority over Me at all, if it had not been given to you from above; for this reason the one who handed Me over to you has the greater sin.”

Those passing by were hurling abuse at Him, shaking their heads and saying,“ Ha! You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,save Yourself by coming down from the cross!”In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes, were mocking Him among themselves and saying,“ He saved others; He cannot save Himself!Let this Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe!” Those who were crucified with Him were also insulting Him.

God is a righteous judge, And a God who shows indignation every day.

And then the high priest stood up and came forward and questioned Jesus, saying,“ Do You not offer any answer for what these men are testifying against You?”But He kept silent and did not offer any answer. Again the high priest was questioning Him, and* said to Him,“ Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?”

They went on stoning Stephen as he called on the Lord and said,“ Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!”
