When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

People shouted at him and made fun of him. But he didn’t do the same thing back to them. When he suffered, he didn’t say he would make them suffer. Instead, he trusted in the God who judges fairly.

He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth. Like a lamb led to the slaughter and like a sheep silent before her shearers, He did not open His mouth.

So those who suffer according to God’s will should, while doing what is good, entrust themselves to a faithful Creator.

For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, so that you won’t grow weary and lose heart.

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act,

And now, Lord, consider their threats, and grant that Your slaves may speak Your message with complete boldness,

But You Yourself have seen trouble and grief, observing it in order to take the matter into Your hands. The helpless entrusts himself to You; You are a helper of the fatherless.

There is reserved for me in the future the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved His appearing.

and that is why I suffer these things. But I am not ashamed, because I know the One I have believed in and am persuaded that He is able to guard what has been entrusted to me until that day.

And Jesus called out with a loud voice,“ Father, into Your hands I entrust My spirit.” Saying this, He breathed His last.

Now the Scripture passage he was reading was this: He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb is silent before its shearer, so He does not open His mouth.In His humiliation justice was denied Him. Who will describe His generation? For His life is taken from the earth.The eunuch replied to Philip,“ I ask you, who is the prophet saying this about— himself or another person?”So Philip proceeded to tell him the good news about Jesus, beginning from that Scripture.

Into Your hand I entrust my spirit; You redeem me, Lord, God of truth.

Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True, and He judges and makes war in righteousness.

Those who seek my life set traps, and those who want to harm me threaten to destroy me; they plot treachery all day long.I am like a deaf person; I do not hear. I am like a speechless person who does not open his mouth.I am like a man who does not hear and has no arguments in his mouth.

But because of your hardness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment is revealed.

Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord. He went to the high priest

And masters, treat your slaves the same way, without threatening them, because you know that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with Him.

The Jews responded to Him,“ Aren’t we right in saying that You’re a Samaritan and have a demon?”“ I do not have a demon,” Jesus answered.“ On the contrary, I honor My Father and you dishonor Me.

not paying back evil for evil or insult for insult but, on the contrary, giving a blessing, since you were called for this, so that you can inherit a blessing.

Then Jesus said,“ Father, forgive them, because they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided His clothes and cast lots.The people stood watching, and even the leaders kept scoffing:“ He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One!”The soldiers also mocked Him. They came offering Him sour wineand said,“ If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!”An inscription was above Him: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.Then one of the criminals hanging there began to yell insults at Him:“ Aren’t You the Messiah? Save Yourself and us!”

So he kept asking Him questions, but Jesus did not answer him.

before the Lord, for He is coming— for He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness and the peoples with His faithfulness.

You could not possibly do such a thing: to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. You could not possibly do that! Won’t the Judge of all the earth do what is just?”

After blindfolding Him, they kept asking,“ Prophesy! Who hit You?”And they were saying many other blasphemous things against Him.

It is a clear evidence of God’s righteous judgment that you will be counted worthy of God’s kingdom, for which you also are suffering,

because He has set a day when He is going to judge the world in righteousness by the Man He has appointed. He has provided proof of this to everyone by raising Him from the dead.”

Those who passed by were yelling insults at Him, shaking their headsand saying,“ The One who would demolish the sanctuary and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross!”In the same way the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked Him and said,“ He saved others, but He cannot save Himself! He is the King of Israel! Let Him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in Him.He has put His trust in God; let God rescue Him now— if He wants Him! For He said,‘ I am God’s Son.’”In the same way even the criminals who were crucified with Him kept taunting Him.

He went back into the headquarters and asked Jesus,“ Where are You from?” But Jesus did not give him an answer.So Pilate said to Him,“ You’re not talking to me? Don’t You know that I have the authority to release You and the authority to crucify You?”“ You would have no authority over Me at all,” Jesus answered him,“ if it hadn’t been given you from above. This is why the one who handed Me over to you has the greater sin.”

Those who passed by were yelling insults at Him, shaking their heads, and saying,“ Ha! The One who would demolish the sanctuary and build it in three days,save Yourself by coming down from the cross!”In the same way, the chief priests with the scribes were mocking Him to one another and saying,“ He saved others; He cannot save Himself!Let the Messiah, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe.” Even those who were crucified with Him were taunting Him.

God is a righteous judge and a God who shows His wrath every day.

Then the high priest stood up before them all and questioned Jesus,“ Don’t You have an answer to what these men are testifying against You?”But He kept silent and did not answer anything. Again the high priest questioned Him,“ Are You the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”

They were stoning Stephen as he called out:“ Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!”
