你們從前不是子民，如今卻是上帝的子民；從前沒有蒙憐恤，如今卻蒙了憐恤。

Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

永恆主說：『給他起名叫非我民；因為你們不做我的子民，我也不做你們的上帝。『然而以色列的人數必如同海沙，不可量，不可數；從前在甚麼地方有話對他們說：「你們不是我的子民」，將來在那裏也必有話對他們說：「你們乃是永活上帝的兒子。」

所以我們只管坦然無懼進到恩惠之寶座前，好領受憐憫，取得恩惠、做及時的援助。

就像上帝也在《何西亞書》上說了：『我要稱非我民、為我民；稱非蒙愛者為蒙愛的。』『將來必這樣：從前在甚麼地方有話對他們說：「你們不是我的子民」，就在那地方，他們就必稱為永活上帝的兒子。』

你們從前不順服上帝，如今因他們的不順服、你們倒蒙了憐恤；

雖則我先前是謗讟、逼迫、損害者。然而我蒙了憐憫，因為我是在不信中愚蒙而作的，

論到童身人、我卻沒有主的詔命；但作為蒙主憐恤、而可信靠的人、我就發表發表意見。

但是我說，以色列難道不明白麼？先有摩西說：『我要激動你們羨妒那不是國民的，我要惹動你們氣忿那蒙昧的國民。』

既是按着恩典，就不是由於行為了；不然，恩典就不再是恩典了。那麼便怎麼樣呢？以色列所切求的、他們竟然沒有得着；惟獨蒙揀選的人得着了。其餘的人就成了頑梗不化的；
