你們從前不是子民，但如今卻是神的子民；從前沒有蒙憐憫，但如今卻蒙了憐憫。

因此，讓我們坦然無懼地來到恩典的寶座前，為要得著憐憫，尋見恩典，做為及時的幫助。

正如神在何西阿書上也說：「我將要稱那不是我子民的為『我的子民』，那不蒙愛的為『蒙愛的』。從前在什麼地方對他們說『你們不是我的子民』，就在那裡，他們將被稱為『永生神的兒女。』」

正如你們以前不肯信從神而現在卻因他們的不信從反而蒙了憐憫；

雖然我原先是褻瀆神的、逼迫人的、侮慢人的，但是我卻蒙了憐憫，因為我是在不信、不明白的時候做的；

關於童貞的女子，我沒有從主而來的命令，但是我既然蒙主的憐憫成為忠心的人，我就提供意見。

我再說「以色列人難道不明白嗎？」首先，摩西說：「我要用不是子民的，激起你們的嫉妒之心，用無知的民族激起你們的怒氣。」

既然藉著恩典，就不再本於行為了；否則，恩典就不再是恩典了。所以怎麼樣呢？以色列人並沒有獲得他們所尋求的，蒙揀選的人卻獲得了，而其餘的人都成了剛硬的，
