Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.

So get rid of every kind of evil, and stop telling lies. Don’t pretend to be something you are not. Stop wanting what others have, and don’t speak against one another.

Brothers, don’t be children in thoughts, yet in malice be babies, but in thoughts be mature.

The night is far gone, and the day is near. Let’s therefore throw off the deeds of darkness, and let’s put on the armor of light.Let’s walk properly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and lustful acts, and not in strife and jealousy.

Or how can you tell your brother,‘ Brother, let me remove the speck of chaff that is in your eye,’ when you yourself don’t see the beam that is in your own eye? You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck of chaff that is in your brother’s eye.

For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed.But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

I fed you with milk, not with meat; for you weren’t yet ready. Indeed, you aren’t ready even now,for you are still fleshly. For insofar as there is jealousy, strife, and factions among you, aren’t you fleshly, and don’t you walk in the ways of men?

Don’t envy the man of violence. Choose none of his ways.

For I am afraid that by any means, when I come, I might find you not the way I want to, and that I might be found by you as you don’t desire, that by any means there would be strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, whisperings, proud thoughts, or riots,

as free, and not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.
