As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance,

務為天主之孝子、毋復縱情恣慾、一如昔日未聞道時之所為也。

As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.

You should obey your Father. You shouldn’t give in to evil desires. They controlled your life when you didn’t know any better.

So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then.

so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human lusts, but for the will of God.For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of indecent behavior, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties, and wanton idolatries.

not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God;

in which you previously walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.

For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared,He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we did in righteousness, but in accordance with His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

Therefore, treat the parts of your earthly body as dead to sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.For it is because of these things that the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience,and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them.

being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart;and they, having become callous, have given themselves up to indecent behavior for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.But you did not learn Christ in this way,if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus,that, in reference to your former way of life, you are to rid yourselves of the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,

So having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now proclaiming to mankind that all people everywhere are to repent,

See that no one deceives you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life.
