務為天主之孝子、毋復縱情恣慾、一如昔日未聞道時之所為也。

As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.

You should obey your Father. You shouldn’t give in to evil desires. They controlled your life when you didn’t know any better.

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,

So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then.

as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance;

as children of obedience, not fashioning yourselves according to your former lusts in the time of your ignorance:

Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

in order to live the remaining time in the flesh no longer for human desires, but for God’s will.For there has already been enough time spent in doing what the Gentiles choose to do: carrying on in unrestrained behavior, evil desires, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and lawless idolatry.

not with lustful passions, like the Gentiles, who don’t know God.

in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit now working in the disobedient.

For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved by various passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, detesting one another.But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love for mankind appeared,he saved us— not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy— through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, put to death what belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry.Because of these, God’s wrath is coming upon the disobedient,and you once walked in these things when you were living in them.

They are darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them and because of the hardness of their hearts.They became callous and gave themselves over to promiscuity for the practice of every kind of impurity with a desire for more and more.But that is not how you came to know Christ,assuming you heard about him and were taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus,to take off your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires,

“ Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God now commands all people everywhere to repent,

Let no one deceive you with empty arguments, for God’s wrath is coming on the disobedient because of these things.

Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life.
